Not that it really matters though, as someone else has already mentioned comparing a stock vs a chipped car is backwards. The golf is faster from the factory so will have the advantage once its been tuned, the same applies to the suspension, if you spend thousands on the golfs suspension it will have the upper hand over the tig.
Careful what you're quoting - the 132TSI Pacific with the "old" 6 speed auto box does 9.6s 0-100km/h, however same car in manual does 8.3s. The 155TSI will do it in 7.3s which is close to stock GTI time of 6.9s.

If you chip the 132TSI in either manual or DSG guise you'll definitely be in the 6's plus with AWD will get off the line better too.

If you spend the difference in price between base 132TSI and stock GTI in modding up the 132 it'll run rings around the GTI. As team_v says you'll get a stage 2 Tig plus suspension/wheel/tyre mods for that price.

The op suggested he was looking for an auto, so it only seems fair to quote auto figures and as you accurately pointed out the 132tsi is a conventional auto (non dsg) hence the terrible 0-100 times.

Not sure if I agree with your second paragraph, you just said the 132tsi is a non dsg auto but you're claiming it will do 6's?

Supposedly the dsg gearbox is coming back to the 132tsi

The 132TSI Pacific is a "special" edition due to supply issues with the 7 speed DSG gearbox. I have a 2011 125TSI and that came with 7 speed DSG. Performance is on par with the manual.

If you chip any of the 2.0 petrol engines (as they are fundamentally the same) you can get in the order of 188kW.

The 155TSI comes with the 7 speed DSG gearbox so at the moment if you really want DSG this is the only option.

Having said that when the 132TSI was released this time last year it came with 7 speed DSG so they are out there if you look for them.

Agree if you chipped the 6 speed auto you'd probably get in the 7's.

125TSI (and 132TSI) manual chipped to 190kw/400NM will do 0-100km/h in between 5.7 and 5.9s ...... it is a good few tenths quicker than a 190kw GTI manual due to the advantage of AWD .... and a good 1s quicker than a stock GTI .... what is even better is that for about $37K on the road your 132TSI can do this, which is at least a couple of thousand $$$$$ cheaper than a GTI ....

Auto (non DSG) 125TSI/132TSI with a chip will do it in 6.5s ..... also quicker than a stock GTI for less money .....

            EDIT:

Why are the GTI drivers so ignorant .....

A 155TSI with DSG can be had in base spec for $43K on the road .... at this price (the same as a DSG GTI) it is better equipped than a GTI with more space everywhere and it has the same AWD system as the Golf R. Spend $2K on only an ECU tune on the GTI and the Tig and the Tig is on par with a R performance wise (road only, not track), much quicker than the GTI .... I'm not saying it is a better drive, just quicker. GTI's bring their own special feel to the way they drive which has nothing to do with how quick or slow they are ....
