  • Tiguan '10 Recall ??

Late last year (Late Dec) I had the 6 speed manual gearbox replaced under warranty.

I got a call from the dealer asking me to bring the car back in as a recall had been issued and an ECU update was required.

Does anyone know if it is actually a recall?

    I haven't heard anything.
What was wrong with the gearbox?
What model Tig do you have (125TSI or 103TDI?)

I have the 125TSi . I'm not excatly sure what was wrong but it essentialy fell to bits internally.

I have not heard of anyone else having issues with the 6spd manual.

I believe a member of the forums (Arctra) had a problem with the gearbox in an earlier model tiguan but it was the slushbox auto.

        I have a 2010 125TSI 6MT and haven't had any word of a recall yet.
Did you get a technical service bulletin or any number we can quote to the dealership to get it checked out?

Here are the 2 threads about gearbox issues in the Slushbox Tig's.

Relax man.... there isn't a car on the roads that hasn't had some type of "Technical Service Bulliten" or "Dealer Service Campaign" or "Recall" in its life. It's why we have warranties. If in situations where they is a recall, the problem might only effect 1% of the model population, but they still need to check/action all the cars depending on the situation.

I know of another 6sp MT (in Brisbane) that had the same problem. (Not mine) VW fixed that under warranty as well.

There is a service bulletin/recall on the Tiguans' door handles, but that is all I know of so far.

As Corey_R said, it is a bit unrealistic to expect that there be no problems on a car model over its manufacturing lifetime ..... seems the Tigs are much better than the Golfs anyway, with numerous DSG (previous generation 6spd) problems and many 1.4TSI engine failures ....

I did find out more today. First the recall is for the door handles which I new about. The dealer got it wrong when he first called. More info on the damage was broken teeth on multiple gears within the gearbox.

But in summary to this thread, there is no Tiguan '10 Recall.... so hence there isn't really any topic.
I'll close it if noone else has anything to add.
thank you........it went on for too long.

In conclusion to the OP's question of a Tiguan '10 recall for gearbox failuers, there is no recall. The above link kindly provided by brimway provides a link to the Australian Government website where you can find information on all product recalls.

As the topic has been definitively answered, and as apparently some members don't like moderators participating in the forums they spend countless hours contributing to, I've deleted all Off-Topic posts and are now closing the thread. If you have something to add or a question to ask, please PM me.

Thanks to everyone who legitimately contributed to the thread to answer the OP's question.
