Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New look Tiguan coming mid 2011?

Hello all, I am a Tiguan owner wannbe.. I am looking at leasing my Tiguan through leaseplan. I made a couple of calls this afternoon, and was told that the new look Tiguan is coming mid next year by a sales rep from Camberwell VW. He also told me that they had started taking pre-orders for the "new look" Tiguan.
I then rang Barlworld VW and they said they've heard nothing about the new look, and expect that will become available sometime 2012 instead.

Can anyone shed some light on this ?

The "sales rep from Camberwell" either knows more than VW themselves or is is talking bunkum (my preference) !!

I haven't seen anything official from anyone at VW either here or overseas so i would bank on a 2012 release.
Wait until we see some VW created sketches, then we will see some spy shots, then a proper motorshow release then we will likely get it 4-6 months after that.

I hope so.. I was asking for a quote on the “existing" model, and he went on and on saying I should save my money for the new model, which would be available pretty soon next year. he then said they have no Tiguan in stock at the moment, and i might as well pre-order the new model if i am willing to wait for 4 months or so.. wasn't very convincing.

Looks like the facelift version might be available 2011 in Europe. VW Tiguan Facelift Comes At Geneva Motor Show 2011 – Mibz.com.

I would ask to see what proof they have?
There has been nothing so far other than a extremely grainy spy shot of an unidentifiable car at a dock in America.

I was going to wait for the updated model but took the plunge and couldn't be happier.'
Not sure how the new one will go, will probably be a bit bland followng the new mk6 design profile.

In GB you can't get the EXISTING model without a 6 to 8 month wait !!! (that's for a specific order rather than a "stock" model of course).

That photoshop has been around for a while (See march this year)
Even if the update is shown at the motorshow we won't get it here until late 2011 at the earliest (and that is banking on it being released at the Geneva motorshow next year, which so far no one has officially said)

It is likely to be MY12 ... so production to start in August, 1st deliveries in Australia no earlier than late November, so its a year away.

I really like the look of that and will likely invest time and effort in researching and applying the facelift to my Tig. Even though that is a rendering, looking at it, its likely only the front panels to change ....

lights, grille, fenders, bonnet and bumper. Probably cost $5K at least, but thats a lot less than $50K .....

I'll be offering kits for sale if its do-able ....

I am betting during the facelift they will replace the current 2.0l TSI with 1.8lTSI, with the resulting drop in power. Like they did in the Passat. So, might make sense to get one before the facelift.
