  • Tiguan boot hatch release

    Hi guys,
I am trying to find a way to open the boot whilst having the car running/key in.

In the last few weeks i have had to turn the car off and pull the key before the boot hatch would unlock so that a passenger could put stuff in the boot.

Is there any vagcom coding or any process which i am not doing properly to get the boot to open while the car is still on as it is rather frustrating having to turn the car off for 10 seconds so someone can grab their esky etc from the boot.

Solution = press door unlock button on driver's door

You should be able to change it via MFD. I can open the doors inc. hatch by pressing unlock button on the driver's door. I have it set to auto lock when you reach 15 or 20km/h and when unlocking, to unlock only the drivers door.

Transporter, i deactivated the auto lock feature as soon as i got the car so it shouldn't be that.

I tried unlocking the boot via the keyfob while i was in teh car (key still in teh ignition) and it still wouldn't work.

Will have a look on Thursday night and see if i can read the manual about it.

So, did you set it to unlock all doors when you open the car using the key?

          Yes, it unlocks all doors.
Might have to have a play around with the MFD/manual to see if there is anything i missed.

              ^ Correct.

Hit the unlock button on the driver's door, and then the boot can be opened externally via the release on the bootlid.

As to why you've disabled the Anti-Carjacking devivce, I'm not sure...

                rattle from rear door

team V sorry to hear you are having hassles, hopefully you will find a logical explanation, per Transporter I just unlock mine with unlock button in car, but looks like you have explored that

Slightly off topic I know, but has anyone had any trouble with their rear door being slightly loose? You can move it just slightly when its locked on ours and we have an occassional rattle from the back over bumps that I now suspect is the rear door itself. So interested if anyone else experiencing similar problems or has any clues on adjusting so no longer loose.

I've found a few strikers loose in my travels. Check that. Sometimes it shows that the bootlid is ajar on the MFD.

I didn't try the door unlock button on the driver door, i will give it a whirl tonight.
I tried using the keyfob boot button but it won't work while the car is on for some reason.

Will try a few things when i get home tonight and let you know if i find a solution.

As to why i disabled the auto-lock, no one seemed to like the idea of being locked in, even though i told them there is a failsafe that will auto-unlock in the event of an accident.
I have never even seen or heard of a carjacking in Aus though so i don't think it is really necessary.

Boot hatch isn't loose though Jimbo, in fact the only rattle i did have was from the engine mount.

Nobody is locked in even when the doors are locked. A simple double pull on any of the interior door handles opens that door whilst the rest of the car remains locked.

                        Thanks Sharkie,
Will try the driver's door unlock tonight.

I like the idea of the auto lock feature but everyone else gets worried so i found it easier to just dissable it.

                          Okay found the solution.
Pressing the unlock button on the driver's door will allow the boot to open while the ignition is on.

Might have to see if i had the MFD settings changed as it should all unlock upon keypres but at least i have a solution.

Yep, that's what I told you at the beginning. It unlocks all doors. It, will not unlock them when you lock the car from the outside with the remote or key and leave the window down (it is deadlocked then). It means when the burglar smash the window, he still can't open the door.

                              Interesting, i didn't know that.
I thought you had to press the lock button twice to double lock it (may just be a mk5 golf thing)
