Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey mate...

I bought a genuine VW part, but no tube?

What year is your TDI, and did you buy oil filter or fuel filter?
      What part no. ?

2010 Tiguan TDI has the oil filter I mentioned, the same as 2005 Golf TDI, or every Skoda TDI right up to 2009 (in OZ).

        Brand new MY2010 103TDI Golf.

        Part number is 03L 115 562

Should be an oil filter, it's what I asked for.. Looks almost identical to the filter for the Golf GTI, only slightly smaller.

It looks like they sold you a filter for old ALH engine.

Those sons of b*tches! I waited there for over half an hour whilst they matched it to my VIN and all!

Thanks mate, I'll go back there on the weekend and sort them out.

Can anyone tell me if the oil filter on a 103TDI is removable without removing the plumbing directly above it?
The plumbing removal looks quite a fiddly job, and something I don't want to get into.
If the filter is removable with the piping still in place, then OK. If not the filter change will be up to the dealer.
I have just completed the second oil change at 12500km.

You need 32mm socket and long extension with universal joint, ratchet. The part that is in your way just slide down and put it aside.

Hi Pinarello: You indicate a 'second' oil change at 12,500km but VW says 15,000km for the first oil change. I have done 6000 in my new 103 since April. Are you overcautious or following a method?

No, just being cautious. My first oil change was at 2000km and second at 12,500. We plan on keeping the car long term.

This is an old thread and it made me question the oil filter I have for my 2012 build date 103TDI Yeti.
I just rang a different dealer to confirm it's the right one and apparently it is.
