god they are slack, TDI G450 sensor fault in memory...10 mins to check and 10 mins to replace G450, adapt new sensor to ECU, roadtest, all good! Easy as.....vwtech.................

Kind of what I thought. Considering I had GIVEN them the VCDS scan results already, and looked up what the problem and solution on Ross-Tech, there wasn't much they needed to do.

That's good that you've got your Tig back.
What a quick fix, they must keep the exh. temp. sensors in stock now. Shame that you had to go back, they should replace it when they did service on it.

The service manager reckoned the tech that looked at it second time around was of the opinion that the sensor just should have been changed first time around as they've had a few faulty sensors already and it's a cheap part. Obviously the first tech thought differently though.

As far as it being a shame that I had to go back, I agree - though the pain was lessened by the Passatt CC loan car overnight I'm just glad the engine light came on almost immediately rather than taking a couple of days. I have to admit, it took a lot of self control to not tell them "I told you so!"
