    I feel your pain ChrisJ!

I don't even trust a dealer to put on plates on a new car (based on past experience).

Don't even bother to check whether it's straight and not skewed to one side.

      Please, please, please.

Need recommendations for a VW specialist in eastern half of Melbourne (appart from dealers).
Is it common to bring one's own oil? Castrol Edge 5W-30 is the correct one, I believe?

just booked mine in for 45k service. This includes an injector service, which I evidently need as it's done so many k's! Why do I feel like I'm being conned?

clip, contact Jimmy, (Jmac), its worth it bringing the car down to him.

Unless you must have the dealer stamp for when you trade the Tig on the new BMW X3 3.0TT ..... 0-100 in 5.7s in stock form and thats before you have it chipped (DMS - Guy again) will see 270kw+/500NM+ out of it and possibly a sub 5s 0-100 .... in a SUV that costs less than $100K ...... I know I'm tempted atm .....

It will interesting to get a drive in one for sure!

Think I'll phone Jimmy, my dealer doesn't sell beemers, or Audi's or anything else remotely intersting other than VWs!

Just had my 30,000km service done on my 103kW TDI. Cost me $590 all up and included:

                • Pollen filter change
                • Brake fluid change
                • Haldex coupling oil change (invoice says it has been done, but the checklist isn't checked off - curious)
                • A few extra's to pad the bill out ($80 for oil! Engine flush, Diesel treatment

Remember at 30k you should have had your haldex changed on a tiguan! This is what bumps up the cost! If you have cheap quotes check that they are changing the haldex every 30k, the parts alone for the Haldex change are around $80 then some labour on that.....................vwtech........

Thanks for correcting me. I wasn't sure and was lazy to check under the car.
So, it is only the fluid and maybe some washer or Oring. Hmm, very expensive Haldex oil then, $80 for... I assume 1L-1.5L?

I have emailed the dealer asking why they didn't change the Haldex coupling oil. I've paid for it, so it should have been done. I will keep you guys posted on the progress of the enquiries. There are a few things that don't sit quite right at the moment, but I am not going to play all my cards at once - I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and let them get back to me first.

I climbed under the vehicle last night to check for the spanner marks and evidence of oil drainage you mentioned Transporter, but my awesome skid plate covers it Depending on what the dealer comes back to me with, I may remove the plate this weekend and take a look myself (probably take a few pics too as evidence)

Thanks for your advice so far guys. And to those of you that get your dealer to do work, do yourself a favour and go through the invoice and checklist with a fine tooth comb afterwards to ensure they've done what they should!

Mate, I have to admit I didn't check the owner's manual for when the Haldex oil should be changed. So, just make sure it is scheduled for 30,000km before you question them.

Interesting tht you give such an authoritive answer on this, coz my dealer claim they are not 100% sure it is necessary. They claim VW Australia hasn't got back to them with an official answer. But they are going to do it for me anyway because I have asked for it. Doesn't sond right, but as long as I get it done I am happy.

                              Thanks for your advice though.

                                Hi all,

I just made enquiries re my next service. The car is on 50,000 kms, but because I have had a few extra services done, the stupid dealership cant seem to understand or work out which service they should do this time.

The silly girl at the service desk says it should be a major service....so she quoted $980!!!

So...I asked them to fax me a list of what is done at that service to possibly justify that cost. here is the list: (seems like a lot of this is just "checks"...:

                                Repalce engine oil and filter
                                Check drive belts
                                Check cooling system
                                Replace air cleaner element
                                Replace spark plugs
                                Replace fuel filter
Replace pollen filter (which is strange, as they replaced this at the last service too they said)
Check battery electrolyte and fluid level
                                Check oil levels
                                Check steering and suspension components
                                Replace brake fluid
                                Check exhaust system
                                Check front and rear brakes
                                Check and adjust parking brake
                                Lubricate locks, hinges, and latches
                                Check seat belt components
Check all lights, wipers, tyre pressures
Interogate 5051 fault memories and printed report.

So guys, is this worth $980, or should I take it to a VW specialist who has estimated approx $500 for this work instead. I mean, how much of this is parts, and how much is just padding with excessive labour?

Would love to hear your thoughts.
