  • Cost of Tiguan services

Would love to know what the variation in costs are for the scheduled services in out tiguans.

I have just had a service done now, and they charged $595 for what I can only see is an oil and filter change!! (the 30,000km) I have also done two additional ones in between.

They tried to pad the invoice and make it look like more etc...but at the end of the day, it was just oil and filters and plug in of diagnostic tool.

Am I being a bit ignorant or harsh on my dealer?

If it was your 2 year 30,000km they usually do brake fluid as well. If they didnt do brake fluid then that price is outrageous!

My 125 TSI Tiguan is close to the first 15000km/1 year service.

I was quoted $350 by two dealerships. One in Melbourne, the other in Bendigo. They claim the oil is $120, filter $30, and the rest is labour and some consumables. It seems bit hefty to me.

The sticky at the top of this forum states the 1y service should be $139 - $202. Can the author of that sticky tell us please who will do it for that price?

My other question - does the service need to be done at VW dealership? If not, are there any recommended 'qualified/authorised' mechanics in the eastern half of Melbourne?

            Joe

Edit: Is it too much to ask how much other people paid for service and where?

I just had my 15000kms/12 month service at JMAC's (Alba European). Only done 7200km actually. Cost was much less than $200 and I supplied my own Castrol EdgeSport 0W-40 oil. Best of it all was, the work was done by a VW master technician and not an apprentice at a VW dealership .... Go VW specialists for the win ....

At the same time Jimmy fitted original VW Optical Parking sensors to the rear of the Tig for me. (for extra cost to the service obviously)

Can the sensors be fitted on without replacing the whole rear bumper? I thought it does because of the row of holes.. now feeling a bit of regret not having it factory fitted!

Do not need to replace the bumper. The bumper actually has the markings on the inside where the sensors have to go, so its a simple case , removing the bumper, drilling the holes as marked already and then fitting the sensors and refitting the bumper.

Yep, me too, particularly after reading the horror stories on here about dealer servicing. My 15,000km service is just around the corner (like less than 1,500km to go). Only question is, what about the recalls. I assume I still have to take it to the dealer for those....the only one I know of at the moment is the tab in the door handles...anyone know of anymore?

Well I definitely won't be going to a dealer for my servicing.

Just picked up the Tig from the dealer for a warranty issue (stability control light error intermittently coming on) and had asked them not to wash it. Guess what, pick up and its all washed. There will be hell to pay if I find swirl marks in it tomorrow in the sunlight.

How can you trust them to service your car if they can't follow that simple instruction.
