I just had my 15,000 service done yesterday at a VW Specialist - cost $315.00 all up. Apparently recently gone up from $275.00
Very happy with the price and the service, considering my local "Squealer" Service department in southern Sydney were quoting me $470 + parts etc etc.
I'll return to the specialist for sure.2012 MY12.5 132 Pacific 6sp Manual - Deep Black

We had last service (45,000 or 50,000km) done at UltraTune, first time away from VW dealer. I drive a 125 TSI auto. We were delighted as they quoted about $200 less, and then charged a little less again.
Some months later I noticed some issues. With Cruise on at 60 km/h, engine would fluctuate by about 1,000rpm on a flat, and you could feel the car rocking back and forth. Also, brakes sometimes gave a little groan when pulling up to lights (and yes we use auto-hold all the time). My feeling is that the car had lost a bit of power too.
Took the car to a VW dealer recently, and turns out that the wrong engine software had been loaded. They could not believe it, and charged me about $320 to reload and do some testing. Apart from the engine, the software related to power steering was also wrong. The dealer advised "you don't have to bring it to us, but these cars are finely tuned and you should at least stick to a VW specialist". Think we will take his advice!_______________

^ what the heck is Ultratune doing loading different software onto the ECU? My guess is that they would not have the ability to do that anyway.
Ultratune is for Falcadores and Camry's etc anyway. If you care for your car, take it to a VAG specialist.

It takes 1-2hours to do the sw update and I doubt that Ultratune would do it for free (if they had an equipment).Last edited by Transporter; 23-10-2013, 11:34 AM.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

Just had 75K service done at a recommended independent here in Newcastle. Happy with work carried out & reasonable price ($387).
One thing i've not heard of that was carried out: 'BG quick clean oil system service' (along with 'BG C5 fuel system cleaner'). Anyone heard of it? Hope it's not detrimental...
No issues with stock shocks (lowering springs) or other suspension/steering components & original brake pads & rotors still have plenty of life left after 75000.Current: MY18 TRANSPORTER CrewVan, Indium Grey

VW is now selling their own additives as well. At least they have the part numbers for them and some other company is making them. But, IMO the BG 244J and 44K products there are superior.Last edited by Transporter; 26-11-2013, 07:10 PM.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

Just had 45000km service done and was $499 at local VW Dealer. Basically oil and filter change, new air filter and various checks. 0h, and fuel additive. Dealer does a pretty good job and no other Euro Specialist up here (that I know of) so don't got much choice. Don't mind paying bit extra as they are finally trying to resolve rattle issue that I've had from almost new! After pretty much stripping the interior and much to-ing and fro-ing with VWA, they found a TSB that recommends putting special wax in body cavity. Not sure exactly where, but they have to remove seats and floor covering to do it - glad it's still under warranty as would cost fortune in labour alone otherwise! Have to take it back when they get the wax, and part for fuse recall fix. Given that it has a few mods I'm quite glad they didn't just fob me off like I was expecting
They also picked up on split boots on "conn link" (rod with balljoint each end that goes from frt swaybar up to strut). Seems unusual given (relatively) young age, but would explain extra graunchiness from front end I've noticed lately. Wondering whether it might be a result of extra stiffness from Eibach springs and SuperPro lower control arm bushes?

Now I know they are rip-off scums, as there is NOTHING wrong with my wipers...at least there wasnt when I drove in there this morning! I can not beleive that they think we are stupid!
If my wipers had a problem or needed replacing, then I would have it done, but this is stupid!
Also, they were supposed to fix the centre consul that has broken due to their carelesness before (long story) I showed them this part when I made the booking several weeks ago. It should have beeen ordered in then so it could have been fitted today.
Now they say "it will be ordered and arrive from Germany. I will now have to go back in another time. It is a 4 hour round trip for me to do this!! Morons.

Just had the Haldex oil done today: half an hour labour @ $60 & $83 for the oil. Gotta be happy with that, never seen a workshop charge out for just half an hour, would have thought there'd be an hour minimum charge!Current: MY18 TRANSPORTER CrewVan, Indium Grey

Where the heck does the price difference come from between minor and major with no DSG service?
Gearbox sealed for life......that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I would get the fluid changed at some point soon.
