No word on ours yet, I'll just keep on them and hopefully receive some news soon, good to see that other people are getting their notifications.

I'll just keep staring at the brochure!

Definitely keep chasing them for the VIN.

I would still have heard nothing about the car unless I chased them for the VIN.

They didn't even let me know when it arrived in Melbourne ...

I kept contacting my dealer every 2 weeks to see if anything new had come up.
Last week they told me that they had a VIN for me and it turns out the car was built 3 weeks before hand and had already left Germany, gone to England and was on its way to South Africa.

Bit odd that they didn't contact you when it landed Mainne.
I guess there isn't really a need for them to contact you until they know when pickup will be arranged for as it might just end up with annoyed customers who have to wait 3 more weeks.

But it was annoying as when I got my VIN, the dealer told me that they had no delivery date to destination yet, but would let me know when there was. That was over a month ago.

I think the lack of communication from my dealer may be tinting my view somewhat....

Think of it this way.
If you didn't have the tracker available to use (and they don't know you use it) then you will always be happeir knowing your car is ready to pick up or will be arriving earlier than expected.

This is my reasoning behind why they give you exhorbitant waiting times (i was told late june and it got progressively earlier) and the reason that they only tell you when you can pick the car up otherwise you will be pestering them and agonising every day for the next 3 weeks.

Could be other reasons but those make the mose sense businesswise to me for uninformed customer satisfaction

I see your point Dermot.
I don't know how busy a car dealership is and the sales targets are pretty heavy so i guess making a sale and keeping a job is more of a priority, especially since we have been told a potential delivery date and should be happy with that.


Quick update.
The Toreador has left South Africa and is now on it's way to Fremantle.
It will arrive at Port-of-Brisbane in 20 days and then i assume 3 weeks for customs, compliance and dealer prep and that it will be mine!

Only 2 weeks until it lands in Brisbane, toatally stoked!
I should get it late May as promised and then the mod's can begin.

My son's father-in-law is a VW fanatic with some connections and he reckons ours will arrive the end of May. If thats the case then if we took delivery mid June I'd still be happy as the dealer has always stuck to mid July as their reply when asked.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of yours in a few weeks time.

Late May arrival should be on track for mid June delivery for you.

I can't wait to get mine (in 4-5 weeks) and take pics and start modding.
I already have boxes of stuff at my place with stuff to go on.

Will have to do my own mod thread when i pick the car up.




As a side note, America has a lot of spec changes for the My11 models.
No facelift or cosmetic changes but sunroof standard on teh top range model adn lots of other changes to the options/standard quipment.

Another update.
The ship landed in Fremantle on Sunday and departed yesterday for Melbourne on the 30th.
Still on schedule for landing Brisbane on 5 May so only 8 days to go until it lands for me

Hopefully delivery then is quick as i have no options except tint on the car.

Next Update!
Toreador has just landed in Melbourne.
Got a nice surprise this morning when i checked, it was showing up on the real time tracking site (http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/#) and has also been pushed forward a day so it arrives in Brisbane on the morning of Tuesday 4 May.

That places it at 97 days from ordering until it lands.

Dealer advised my Tig is on the Toreador as well, I must have been very fortunate compared to some as I only ordered last month & from what I can gather only a few days before boat left Germany.....

Dealer did advise of mid May delivery & it seems he will be keeping his word in my case.....feeling fairly stoked at the moment....

Must have ordered one that was pre-ordered in that spec for the Australian Delivery.
I waited about 2 months for mine to be built after ordering.

Let us know how long it takes from landing to pick-up and some pics when you get the new ride would be great!

I believe your right with pre ordered spec plus some luck as well, I heard that someone I know who ordered a Tig in Dec & delivery is on same boat. (nearly cancelled due to delays).

I spoke with dealer today & he advised that they are recieving 20 tigs from the Toreador shipment & that 10 are already sold !

Now my Golf V TDI is up for sale....
