The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Metalic / Pearl Paint

    Hi all,

just about to take the plunge & pay a deposit on a 147 but the colour range is a little confusing.

One rep told me that metalic / pearl is the same effect applied to the duco and not two seperate choices. Then I was told that the black was the only colour that had the pearl effect.

My choice of Biscay Blue Pearl Effect came from the brochure but the three that I've seen on the lot's are a darker blue that dealers tell me is metalic.

I've also seen pictures on the net of biscay blue on the net & they are more a sky blue sort of.

    Any hints?

refer the German web page, which has a larger range of Tiguan colours than we get here - it is clear which are metallics and which are pearl paints
TDI tiguan in the drive. ParkAssist, comfort, fogs
Service every 15,000, new fault code every 7,500km

      Thats it

Thanks a heap Sanman, the colour on there is exactly what I've seen as pearl effect, if I had used my head I would have noticed it on the Oz VW site.

Now to pay that deposit & begin the long wait till July.

          147 options

Basically went the whole hog, sunroof, park assist, nav & camera, leather. off road, xenon headlights, mdi, bluetooth, weather shields, scuff plates, bonnet protector, headlight protector, mats & tint.

Should look good but this morning I have received the contract from the dealer which is 10k different from what was agreed, if they cant clear that up I'll head back to the other dealers that are chasing our dollars.

Jesus you did go all out.
I went the opposuite and got the base spec with no extra's except the paint which was thrown in free.

Mind if I ask why you didn't get an Audi Q5 instead?

Didn't even think of Audi as I only really starting looking to trade up 3 weeks ago. Do you think the Audi is better?

If you are going a 147 and optioning it up, you might as well have got the Q5 imho.
The price will then be comparable and you get the better quaity bits in the Audi.
The limitations are the small seating capacity for 5, but you do get the DSG gearbox as oposed to the old slush-box in the tiguan.

It's up to you but I believe sharkie is also of the opinion that a Q5 is better value than an optioned up 147 Tiguan.

And to be honest, anybody who spent $60K on a fully optioned Tiguan wasted their money and should have bought a Q5 IMO ...... it is in a different (more upmarket) class.

Thanks for that, I'll check out Audi for price and see how it compares.

Pretty sure that the base model Q5 starts at $70k which i still believe to be more than a fully optioned Tig 147 (but i could be wrong?).

I drove the Q5 2.0lt TFSI DSG and whilst it was very nice inside and drives pretty well, we couldn't justify the extra spend over the Tig 147 with a few options ($52k). Plus, the Audi options list is etremely expensive, so adding the SatNav and 18" rims makes it an $80k straight up!.

Q5 2.0TDI & 2.0TFSI starts at $59900 which is pretty attractive, but the options list will kill you .....

Pretty good value with minimal options ... pretty poor value with a few choice options ....

64k drive away for the base model 2.0TFSI with 7speed s-tronic gearbox.

Whilst it is a bit more than a base 147, you get the same stuff standard in the base model Q5 as you do in the 147.

Whilst it is a bit more than a base 147, you get more stuff as part of the build i.e. foglights are standard, auto headlights, drl's, auto wipers, 17" wheels, body coloured bumpers mirros and door handles etc.
                          Umm ... team_v ... those things are all standard on a 147SI .... optional on the 125TSI ....

Whoops, I was comparing it to the list of the 125 instead of the 147.

                            Edited title.

Checked out the prices on the Audi and I'll admit they are a nice unit the Tig will suit our purpose better. Also the price with options is out of our range.
