Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

On the Tig - do you really want all those options?

You are probably aware of this, but just in case - pricey options dont factor a lot into resale values a few years down the track - they basically kill your resale as a % of the purchase.

Of course if you already knew all that - go for it.

Either way the Tig is a great car - excellent choice.

      Not looking good

The Tig must be too popular as the dealers I'm contacting either don't bother to return calls or think that they are doing us a favour in selling us a car.

Was prepared to deal with the hefty price tag despite VW's poor reliability record, all we wanted was a reasonable discount and some honesty, didn't get either from the dealer in my area and now that we've had time to think about other options our enthusiasm for a VW has cooled.

The average discount is about 9-10%.
You can do better if you have options so you should be looking at between 10-13% off the drive away price.

Maybe try looking at dealers further out from you.
Also try getting quotes from brokers.

I believe central cost vw are doing good deals at the moment.
They are at Gosford, i believe they have a contact person on here.

I've been aiming for around that or a little better (never hurts to ask), I'll try the central coast dealer, thanks for info.

            No problems.
I believe they are doing the deal as a corporate discount which should net around 10% before you bargain any further.

With all the options you have gone for, i would be surprised if oyu couldn't get more than 10% off.

Should look good but this morning I have received the contract from the dealer which is 10k different from what was agreed, if they cant clear that up I'll head back to the other dealers that are chasing our dollars.
I just came across this car while shopping around:

All I can say is "WOW!!" Simply stunning!! If it was black on black, I'd be all over it.
