Spot on mate... come to think of it a lot of Euro cars are "chick cars".

If someone feels that his masculinity is threatened by the car he drives he should get a Hummer. Nothing tells people you are man more than American muscle! Oh wait... I think it's Chinese now.

      lol,

But that reminds of an american guy that was going out with my niece a few years ago and we were talking about all the jeep wranglers coming out here at the time and how many young guys were buying them because they looked tough and were priced OK. According to him though, in the States those Wranglers are the favourite vehicle of choice by the men that prefer the comapny of other men!

I originally intended on buying an XT forester, but looked at the tig instead. The build quality alone, as well as the on-road feel made my choice easy...(for the tig of course).
The forester is OK, but the Tiguan feeels like a much more expensive car. All of this is my opinion only of course. You need to see how you all feeel about the car.
I think you can do much better on that pricing though. Try a dealer who really wants to do business, and I'm sure you will be happy.

I had a good look today at the new Forester before I take Tiguan TDI auto for the test drive on Friday. I have to admit that the interior in the current Forester looks very outdated and equipment level is not in the same league as in the Tiguan.
IMHO Hyundai ix35 diesel is much better equipped and more pleasant cabin to seat in. What would scare me in ix35 is small 45kg heavy (very light) and very small 6-speed auto transmission developed by Hyundai that is mated to 2.0L Diesel engine with 135kW and 395Nm torque. Is the Hyundai taking the gamble with that A/T when they put 5 years unlimited km warranty on the car? Will road test ix35 tomorrow. will let you know.

P.S I'm not really serious with the ix35 only curious how that 135kW/395Nm engine goes.

Sure will and this time I let my wife decide which one she wants. I driven Golf6TSI for a half a day and prefer 2.0LTDI in hilly areas much better up the hill in traffic, probably different story on open roads.

I know that styling is subjective, but the Hyundai is simply unattractive in my view...

                        please do not consider one!

I think I do too, although the TSI is only a 1.4 but does come in with 118kw and 240nm vs. 103 and 320 from the TDI. Interesting the claimed fuel consumption is down to only 0.6 advantage with the TDI over the petrol. APR have a remap for the 1.4 TSI too - and that's going to pump up the torque figure.

No, agree with clip as well .... I had the 118TSI DSG for 2 days 2 weeks ago and did not like it ...... prefer a TDI Golf over that as well .... and obviously a GTI over the TDI .....

However, the TSI Tiguans are an entirely different experience to the Golf, so let your wife drive a 147TSI (I'm guessing you want an auto) and I'm pretty confident she'll love it ....

I did Sharkie and I agree with you that 125 TSI is faster, quieter and more refined car to drive. I was (still am) leaning towards TSI but my wife decided to go for more economical car to drive.

I took the TSI for one hour drive returned it and than had TDI for afternoon and returned it next morning. Thanks to Michael from Solitaire Automotive.

How did I go? Hmm… Having already 3 diesel cars in family and still considering myself as not biased towards petrol. I have to admit and to you guys who are diesels only do not read further below!

Jumping from the TSI into the TDI was like swapping the car for the tractor first, how ever, I guess more you drive it, faster is that feeling leaving you . I suppose if you want to buy TSI there is no reason to try TDI, it doesn't do anything better than the TSI, except when you load it up and drive in hilly areas or you drive in the city traffic and you want better fuel economy. If the fuel economy is what bothers you, than do you math and calculate (figure out) if it is worth it, because if you will keep your Tiguan for just 3-4 years and you will do no more than 60,000km, it is not!

                                Reasons for buying TSI
                                Faster
                                Quieter more refined ride
                                Travelling Short trips
Easily modified for more power(huge tuning potential) than TDI
                                No DPF
Generally cheaper engine repairs and no expensive diesel fuel injectors to replace if kept for too long (much over 200,000km or more) or something goes wrong.

                                Reason for buying TDI
Better fuel economy, especially if driven whole day (or mostly) in the city traffic.
Can drive further on one tank
I believe it is a better towing vehicle (definitelly will use a lot less fuel than TSI when towing)
Less chances to get speeding fine (easier maintain speed limit)

Conclusion: Bouth engine choices are great and it is up to the individual to make decision which one is better suited to his/hers needs.
