There is only $2400 difference between an auto TDI with Comfort Pack and Fog lights and a 147TSI.

The 147TSI has many other features as standard which IMO are worth far more than that $2400. Leather & RNS510 is also cheaper (combined $800) on the 147 so the difference is down to $1600 for the other extras .... ... and adding park-assist reduces that gap to $1100 ...

The TSI is much more of a drivers car and more comparable to the XT. If you want to enjoy an enthusiastic drive buy the 147. If you want economy buy the 103.

EDIT: in fact looking at it now, I simply cannot comprehend why anybody would pick a 103 auto over a 147 unless economy is important....

    EDIT 2:

    103 TDI auto 39190
    Comfort Pack 1000
    Fog lights 400
    Leather 4000
    RNS510 + RVC 3500
    Park Assist 1400
    Total RRP 49490

    147 TSI auto 42990
    Leather 3700
    RNS510 + RVC 3000
    Park Assist 900
Total RRP 50590 (+all the 147 specific extras including wheels worth far more than $1100!!!!!)

Talk about good value (comparatively) in the 147TSI ...... ..... sorry to say but I feel some of you other Tiguan owners have been had by VW ....

      Hey Sharkie

Would you have gotten the 147 and done a chip upgrade if it was available in manual?

      Just wondering...

Yes, hell, I would even happily have paid RRP $42990 with no ($2500) discount for a manual for it .....

VWA are you listening ????? A manual 147TSI please .....

A test drive or both will give her the answer.Tiggy wins hands down.
Asker her how often she drives with her foot to the floor. If it is >1% then go with the XT otherwise go with a tiggy.

forrester is a great car ,bigger boot but internal plastics are the worse i have seen.Really tacky IMO.

The clincher is the driving position.Antiwhiplash headrests in the forrester are angled at at least 15deg and really uncomforttable for anything more than the 10min test drive unless you like to drive with your chin on your chest or your seat so reclined the headrest is the height of the steering wheel (aka 1980-90 commodore P plate drivers)

Also 4speed auto box in the subaru is at least 10 years out of date.

There --that should clinch it for VW

This aggravates me no end! When looking for a new car I also considered the V6 4motion Passat and the Jetta Turbo but NEITHER is available in a manual!! VWA, get your **** together please!!!!!

no no no borbor. We don't want any more Tig owners. There's too many already!

But in all seriousness whoistheg, tell your mum to go with the Forester - great car, good resale, practical, economical, just a great all round package. Much better than a Tig - honestly.

I bought my wife a Tiguan 147 with the works; satnav, park assist, leather, 18" wheels

She loves it; powerful, smooth to drive, top quality build, the only complaint has been the lack of a proper boot but we knew that going in

                    Its a great chick car.....

.... Ouch that hurts ... even if its true ... majority of Tiguan owners are women .... reason we don't see it on the forum is because they can't be bothered to talk to us here ....

Incidentally, my Tig is also the wifes .... though I have it on loan until my car arrives ....

It does get a bit of a reputation as a girly/soccer-mum car.
We will just have to fix that with the help of APR

they're all chick cars - polos, golfs, jettas, EOS (in particualr), passats, even the touregs are seen more often with the wife behind the wheel. Only real man's cars VW make aren't cars but the vans - and that's only because you can put your tools and your bike in there. If you want a man's car made by VW then the only one is the Veyron.

But that's why the Tig is such good fun - what better sleeper for when those falcon and dunniedoor boys think they have the goods on mum's SUV, and even more fun is to be had with the subi owners

agree be great to see the face of someone in their forester turbo, when they are blown away by the chipped Tig, well that is, if they haven't chipped theirs

I love the Tigs motor its awesome, and bye bye stock forester turbo, but thats not entirely fair, chipping and modding the forester turbo motor would soon see us frowning - though that 4 speed auto might chew up a fair bit of the extra verve

they might get you in a straight line - forget it once you hit the first corner. Bye bye Forester
