Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Was just wondering how good the internal blind is on a hot sunny day, does it shield the sun\heat sufficiently ?

    Thanks

In my opinion, yes it does. I actually like that it lets some light in as the cabin would feel a lot more closed in if it didn't.

agree with Arcta, love the light ambience during the day, with or without blind open. Great for rear seat passengers too.
I also had mine tinted as I live in the Far North. It still lets in enough light, and A/C is fine with the blind.

Doesn't the sunroof comes heavily tinted with the factory installation? The sales people we spoke to told us that it's heavily tinted.

Can anyone who has a sunroof confirm this?

Just picked up the Tig recently with the sunroof. It's definitely tinted enough block out the heat. Loved it from day one and enjoyed the drive at night by retracting the blinds fully. Feels like driving a convertible with out messing the hair (mrs opion).

If you havent order the Tig, need to check out the MY10 model as it has different climatic control panel! It's the same look as the one in Golf. Check out the new golf online brochure if you cant see them at the show room.

Sunroof is definitely tinted, and sun blind blocks harshness/heat from the sun.

Can actually drive with blind closed, to avoid sun light, but with roof open for ambience. I love this sun roof, think it really adds to the car.

Sunroof is tinted, and the blind certainly does make a big difference.

We have had a number of very hot days here recently...
had four days in a row over 38 not too long ago - and then again this week. Yesterday was 39, today 36.

              Love my sunroof.
Love the blind as well - as others have mentioned - you still get good ambient light through it.

              Thoroughly recommend it!

                sunroof

I agree with the others comments,
I have owned a couple of cars with sunroofs and this is the most usable especially because of the blind.

the rear seat passengers get the most benefit of it, the view is outstanding,
Drivers well they should be driving!!

with or without a hole in the roof you will enjoy your tiggy

We love the sunroof too, although I do find that combined with the leather it can get quite hot, and this takes a bit longer to cool down after being parked outside.
I drive a lot for work and am in and out quite a bit. That means just as I get it cool again, I have to turn things off and see the next client.
I would love a way of keeping the aircon running while still being able to lock the car while seing my clients for a few minutes. Any tips?

On a hot day you can prevent the heat from building up inside a parked car by leaving the sun roof slightly open and letting the hot air escape. Of course this should only be done if you are able to keep an eye on the car.

Somthing similar to a turbo timer perhaps but you would have ac wiring setup to run through the turbo timer and set the running time to 3 or 4 min

I've never had a sunroof on a car before, and we ended up with one on our new Tig by accident (factory mistake). Are there any special care instructions, or precautions to take? We are looking for roof racks and have found some (from a post on this website) that will fit with the sunroof, because we want to use our kayaks. We never wanted the sunroof because we're scared of sand and crap scratching the glass......... anyone have any suggestions???
