Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Park Assist, Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Leather, Mats, Window tint, I think that's about all. Drove it about 200k today (40deg C +) and can report that the airconditioner works a treat. Can't say the same for the sat nav - I hope it is just because I have not read the instruction book.

I bought a stainless steel short aerial from Repco as my garage is on the low side too. Looks a million dollars but cost about $5 I think.

What's the ipod problem? If it's the media in, and you have an iphone which it says it isn't compatible, just ignore it, it will work anyway (though I don't know if it charges, haven't tested that yet).

                  Me too!

I just picked up our new 125 TSI auto (comfort pack, sunroof, park assist). What a machine! First impressions:
                  • If you are thinking of buying a Tiguan, do it!
                  • Heaps of oomph, and flat torque curve like a turbo diesel
                  • Park Assist is surreal. Great for spots that you think are too tight for the car
                  • Sunroof makes the car feel special
                  • Auto hold is clever, but you need to turn it on every time you start the car
                  • You can drive off with the park brake on, as it turns itself off (as long as you are in gear, doors shut and have seat belt on)
                  _______________

It took me a few embarrassing times to work this combination of requirements out to get the car moving!!!

Hmmmm, it's unreal how many people don't read the manual first. You will actually find all your questions answered quicker rather than waiting for someone here to reply and tell you to read the manual.

I got to admit that I always prided myself on how good I was at reverse parking, but the park assist gets me into spots that I wouldn't normally consider. It's a great option for sure.

How did you go with the iPod?

Doesn't sound like you had the MDI installed...
so on a 147 - there is the AUX port in the centre console...
and also a cigarette lighter port to charge it.
[But I'm guessing you worked that bit out)

In the RNS510 there is also the system volume level to set...
low, medium or high (under System - media in for me - as I have the MDI).

I started without the MDI... and was using the iPod connected via AUX...
didn't last long - I went back and had the MDI installed - now it sits in the glovebox! Much better!

Good to see another 147 in here though!

How much did the retro MDI installation cost?
