  • First problem?

I just noticed today that I have what sounds like a vacuum leak coming from the rear of the brake booster where the pedal goes into it. There is the usual concettina type boot that has holes in the end of it and I can hear a slight whistle that seems to be coming from there when there is no pressure on the pedal. As soon as you touch the pedal it goes away. Brakes are working fine and I only noticed it because I was pulling the floor mat out and had the engine running at the time.

Any thoughts anyone? Looks like a trip back to the dealer.

Probably nothing to worry about but i'd pay the dealer a visit just to make sure.

Crap that it's happened but can't complain about the service, that's excellent.

Just one of those things I guess .

Service is fantastic. They were straight on the phone checking/ordering the part and had the whole thing organised in minutes. Very impressed.

I think I may have a problem. Never cared for my cars earlier. Having a new Tig and running in is all new to me.

Is the oil temp reading of 100 to 104 normal? I noted the engine was quite warm after being switched off for more than two hours and after it had been driven only for say 10 or 15 minutes?

These engines do heat up very quickly and the reason they stay warm for a while after is because of the auxillary water pump. This circulates the water around the engine after it's turned off so there are no hot spots etc. but it also makes the engine stay warmer for longer, but not hot if you know what I mean

I'm not sure about oil temps for these (someone else may want to chime in here) but that temp was fine in a VR6, about normal operating temp.

yep, I would agree with Simon, that oil temp sounds spot on - not that I can tell you what mine runs at, because I've got the old model!

I get it. Thanks fellas. I might take it in to the dealer just so that he can look over and they are keen to assist. Normally they give it a good complimentary wash as well

Got the Tig fixed today. Hmmm, I think I had a problem from the start. Touched the brakes first time after picking it up and nearly went thru the windscreen. Very different from before dropping it off.

Must say I'm impressed with my dealer too - courtesy calls, courtesy cars, Tig always washed and cleaned etc. Best service I think I've ever had from a dealership (and I buy a new car every 2 to 4 years).

Yeh, it does make a difference. I like to think people are basically loyal - or at least want to be, so a bit of extra effort and consideration can go a long way.
