Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks, like I stated earlier don't fear the low profile tyre big wheel setups, the compromise in comfort is almost negligable IMHO, the Tigs suspension is a modern (as modern as macpherson struts can be) refined setup and should even out things. If you are offroading might be a diffeent story.

That looks excellent!! I wasn't too sure about your choice of rims at first but they look hella good on What's the wheel width and offset?

      Now I want 20"s, I hate you!!

I'ts still a bit high but I definitely don't think they are sticking out past the guards, size again is ET35 20 x 9 , I should be the one envious, now I need to chip it: all show and some go (can't say No go cause the Tig is no slouch in the midrange). Style wise they look a little like the new 19 wheels on the GT R coming out soon with split 5 spoke design so they kind off suit the Golf/Tiguan platform.

welp, that's it. I have to get 19s now. 18" is just not big enough. 20 is too big for me as I do some light offroading but I do enjoy seeing the pics. Thanks!

Why does the price difference between 18" wheels/tires and 19" have to be like $300+? Oh well.

Shop around I got my tyres (aus spelling) from the US from http://onlinetires.com should be able to find a quality 19 tire for US$120 to $220 in a 255/40/19. Onlinetire tires get mixed reviews online but they actualy made the effort to ring me in Australia to confirm the details of the order, a bit slow to reply online but their personalised service gets the thumbs up in my book not to mention paying US$107 for tyrenormally worth $400.

Was looking at the wheels from the front at 3/4 view and the rear wheel track sits just rite, have to get a photo from that angle now, I have been a bit like the guy from the Colorbond adds all day.

I would be sticking with 19's since I know I can source them locally if i ever get into a pickle.

Still, the 20's look the goods, can't wait to see more pictures of it and the lowering goodness.

Very nice. Great choice in wheel design, suits the car.
Now I can see why people say you have to lower it with 20 inch wheels.

The springs are at the post office awaiting pickup after 10am tommorrow, I will book in to fit the springs asap. Just have to pop ou and get more photos, reason I went for the Audi rep because I thoght they would look like a factory optioned wheel which they do (to me anyway) in real life.

They do have that factory looks.

Just a shame that VW don't get the nicer designs like Audi do.
I guess its like getting hand-me-downs from your brother though, it can still fit and look good.
