Is a shame there is no default ON
I thought there was a menu option in the MFD for always on? I will have to check and see what it does...

Auto-hold is addictive. I'm used to it, and notice if I forget that it is a nuisance idling forward at a red light (auto). it is possible for it not to grab sometimes, if you don't depress the brake pedal properly.

Our vehicle is only twp weeks old and auto hold is permanently set. It must have been enabled by the dealer.

            See the post above yours.
You can disable it again in MFD.

I like the autohold function, but I find it a little annoying when parking. When creeping backwards into a space if you go too slowly the autohold grabs - this is on the auto when just going slowly back with my foot lightly on the break, you have to give it a little accelerator again.
It is in the MFD menu somewhere to set it to be on always, you don't need Vagcom.

only use it on really steep hills... its a pita at other times, specially parking.

Hi Chris (or anyone else), where in the MFD menu is this setting, I've looked but cannot find it.
would like to have it on permanently.
                  thanks

Its in the MFD menu, scroll right down its second or thrid last - on mine it is above "service interval". It says "AUTOHOLD" enter that and there are two options, always on, always off.

Interesting thing just happened on the way home, I had autohold on and had to slam on the brakes as someone ran in front of me. Came to a full stop - but the autohold didn't hold...the light on the button was still on. tried it another hard stop and same thing - didn't hold just rolled forward when I took foot off the brake. Worked normally after with normal stops...

This may help to explain some of the features and how the electro-mechanical parking brake works.

I think if you have MY08, 09 - i.e. red MFD, it's not there - at least I've never found it.

Took my tig in for some stuff today, ESP Fault, Handbrake Fault, Gearbox problems - this option has disappeared from my MFD. Now if I turn autohold on, it stays on even after restarting the car later.

Anyone notice with their Auto Hold that after say 5 - 10mins, it sort of releases a bit and car feels likes it's moved probably a couple of millimetres?

                                Is this normal?

Scared the **** out of me the first time it happen, as was parked on a steep incline with another car parked very close behind.
