Dropped it by about 4cm I'd say. Made a big difference to the stance and the handling. Bodyroll is greatly reduced. Drive comfort is also lessed to some extent. You have to decide which is more important ... comfort or handling ... and I'd pick handling.

Its still got some things to sort out, clip. Got some annoying resonance through parts of the rev range which will need to be tuned out. Wait a bit longer and you can get your own !

From a power perspective its already a winner .... .... more power and torque across the rev range from idle to 6500rmin ....

      • hey sharkie,
another off topic question...what wheel size and tyre are you running with the lower springs? (If you have already posted this somewhere, I apologise...). Thanks for the feedback re the springs. I too will choose performance, looks, and handling over ride quality anyday!

        • acceleration figs

Sharkie you going to post some accleration figs soon?

Before long your Tig's figs wont mean much to the rest of us, you'll be another leap of power again over the APR stage 1 crowd

Aren't there some dry roads up there? Hoping your reason for not posting yet is something other than......they were disappointing?

LOL ... no, all the weekends of rain has played havoc with the plans to get this tested.

Will do the test using both the GTECH and a VBox Guy is going to loan me. Will see how they compare for 1, which will allow us to run other tests on other cars using only the Gtech in the future at meets etc ....

Its fairly easy to to do 0-100 as any appropriate onramp to the freeway will do .....

400m tests needs more creative thinking .....

Can't see the tests being dissappointing as I now know from experience that the 5.7l V8 Holdens are slower ..... tested both a CV8 Monaro and a SS VY Ute ....

Sharkie that was a quick response!

Yeh I expect so, it feels great, though sometimes on on ramps (ie more open roads) you feel like you want a lot more, but as the driver, you dont feel it as much as passengers anyway, as more braced.

Of course on your 'road tests', thats true as long as the V8 holden drivers knew what they were doing? Assuming you know they were, but some people just dont know how to accelerate cleanly and if they weren't expecting they may have been lack lustre in their approach?

Which intercooler did you use for the upgrade ?

S3 intercooler is 30% larger than the std Tiguan's and can easily be fitted.

APR intercooler is almost 100% larger, but costs more ...

and BTW, once the APR dowpipes are approved for production, I believe they will be distrubuted from Australia to all markets that need them ....

                    • Got my 125TSI yesterday and had it booked in with Volkspower in Burwood, Victoria this morning to get the APR ECU remap. Unfortunately was told that the version of the software on my car was incompatible with their system and needs some tinkering and the entire programme needs to be downloaded and sent offshore to be reworked may take 1-2 weeks.

Hope others don't have the same problem. Dean at Volkspower was really great about it though and offered a loan car to me whilst they keep my car for the 3 hours they need to download the software.

                      Still dreaming of 190kw......

Hey tanehy do you know what software your car is running? I am due to pick up my 125TSI mid April and planing on having the APR remap too. Is your Tig a Jan 2010 built date? could this be the problem?

Just a question in regards to the APR remaps, if you take your car to have a service at VW, could it be possible that VW might release a new official ECU reflash? If so would it over ride an existing APR map? and would APR allow unlimited reinstall of their product.

Once you have purchased the remap, you can have it re-flashed onto your ecu if Vw wipe it for no charge according to APR.

                          • No idea which version my car is running... there was a whole string of numbers that Dean showed me but it was the last 4 numbers which were the problem apparently.

My car is a Oct 2009 build.

Well I have the track and field version and I had the option to buy a BSH one from the US built for the GTi as I'm a dealer of them, but it didn't fit correctly so I needed to make some different tubes and change a bit the bracket.

But it's perfect and it's waaaaay faster and consistent under this +30°c temperatures.

We have at least 9 separate files for the petrol Tiguans so far, and VW are releasing new versions every batch (or so it seems).

We are trying to keep on top of it, but until we see it, we can't capture it
