Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Someone today reckoned that the Tig should have a setting where if you lock the doors using the remote, and the windows are still down, they will go up automatically. I looked through everything but couldn't find it. Any of you guys know anything about this?

On my Golf V that I had you just hold the lock button down and after a few seconds the windows would go up if they were down. Keep holding it down until they are closed.

thanks swallowtail, mine does that too, and I can lower them that way using the unlock button, but this guy was under the impression that it should do it itself without having to hold down the button. I'm thinking he was wrong.

Just confirmed on my Tig TDI that you have to press and hold the unlock putton for the windows to lower (as soon as you release the windows stop) and to close them you have to press and hold the lock button on the key (again, you have told hold the button till the windows and sunroof are fully closed)

        Great little trick!

yep, thanks arctra. Just that this guy reckoned there should be a setting to change that to full auto so it does it itself if it senses that the windows are down when you lock the car from the remote. I've been through all the MFD settings etc, but can't find anything. Maybe it's a dealer setting?

Yeah, I'm taking note of this so I can ask the dealer to change that setting when I take my Tig in for it's first service. I also want them to change the setting for the lane-change indicator from 3 flashes to 5 or 6 which I reckon is a lot more practical. I'm sure it's just a VAGCOM (?) setting or something. I think I recall reading in one of the forums that you can get it programmed to automatically close the sunroof when the rain sensors detect rain which is also something that would be very useful!

totally agree. but how much will dealer charge for these settings? a VAGCOM License with Micro-CAN Interface costs USD249 plus shipping, thinking about weakening USD, DIY may be a better option.

I'm pretty sure it's in the "convenience" menu but I'll check next time I'm in my Tig. The NA Tigs don't have the this menu and that's why they have to get it set by the dealers.

This has been brought up a couple of times with the Golfs / Jettas and it cannot be done. I imagine all late VW would be the same. It is either 3 flashes or nothing. Sometimes I think three flashes isn't enough and just hit the stalk briefly again to make 6. That'll be your only option I think.

Sorry, I was mistaken, there's nothing in the Convenience menu for it, y mistake, must have just read about it somewhere. I think the up/down using the remote is standard and i know some of the guys with VagCom have got theirs working with the rain sensors a well but I don't think I've heard of anybody getting them set up to do "auto up" when you lock. You could have a search around on VWVortex cos those guys are really UP on this sort of thing.

                      Cheers
