this thread is actually becoming non beneficial to current contributing Tiguan owners imo...
Isn't this thread supposed to benefit new contributing Tiguan owners
It seems like you want me to appologise for managing to get a good price...?

a lot of the second hand tiguans (125tsi / 132tsi) are still priced $1-$2k less or some even more than what you paid for.
I used to work in a dealership group and yes sometimes they were willing to sell new cars at a loss, even after taking into account the 'holdback' amount, to achieve a quota target, which in return they got bonus or bigger rebate from the factory.Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD

Hi Guys great forum. The information on this forum has convinced me that the tiguan is the car for me. It was a toss up between the Mazda cx5 and the tig. Although the cx5 GT comes with more options, the drive in the tig felt better and from what I have read here is that the engine in the tig is better. I also think i can get a better changeover price on my golf. Plus the APR tune sounds interesting.
I am about to do the ring around on a price for a 132 tsi dsg pacific, leather and 18 alloy and wondered if anyone has got any prices in the last month or two?

Yeah, bad press on the DSG has hurt VW Australia, I was looking at used machines, 2011 onwards, all around 35k
Last month I picked up a new white 103tdi Pacific (comfort pack, park assist 2, fog lights, floor mats plus 6 year warranty) for a smidge over $37k drive away.

I was going to pay 35990 for an auto yes dsg 132tsi but we opted for diesel instead, leather is 4500 extra metallic is 700 extra so it's not a bad price, there would be a bit of room to move as the options are retail price and they are still struggling to make sales

Dodgy.
I negotiated the following - $42,800
Tiguan 132 petrol DSG Pacific
Met paint
Auto
Leather
Sunroof
Scuff plates
Tint
Boot liner
Then...after signing the contract and paying a deposit a few hours later he called and said the car has 300kms on it - ie not new but a demonstrator!
I asked for a discount but he said there wasn't one and tried to tell me that 300kms wasn't a demo car.
Anyone had something similar happen? The manager is calling me tomorrow.Black Tiguan 147 - Sat Nav - Leather - Sunroof - Aftermarket audio - Diamond Audio splits + 12" sub/Audison Bitone processor/Arc Audio amps

Yes dodgy.
I would sit tight and ask for the exact spec you've listed on a brand new car.
After all that is what the dealer has signed the contract saying they are going to deliver to you.
The contract works both ways
I'm sure they'd be mighty upset if you told them now that you were only going to pay them $40k (actually I'd go up to $41k on a 300km demo but I'm a hard negotiator).
And don't tell me that they can't find a car in the same colour with leather and a sunroof - tell them that you're happy to wait.
A new car "should" have under 20km on it - even if they have taken a prospective customer for a short drive in it.
Yes totally dodgy and the sales guy should be ashamed of trying to fob off a demo as new. Yes technically it may not have been registered and only driven with trade plates but it certainly has been "used" by the dealer. 300km is Sydney to Canberra - or maybe it got driven the other way now that the car is in Sydney...
The question I'd be asking the manager would be:
"If another dealer wanted to swap an identical spec car in different colour with your stock would you accept a car with 300km on it for one with 10km?"
I can guarantee you the answer would be certainly not.
I'd also check the build/compliance date of the car they're trying to fob you to see if it is a 2012 or 2013 build - check your contract to see if this has been specified.
If the dealer won't honour their contract I would ask them to refund your deposit and go somewhere else. Now you know what that spec car is worth you should be able to get that price or better somewhere else.
If they're trying to do the dodgy on you with this, what else are they going to dodgy - sell you a car that has already been to the panel shop?
If you don't get any satisfaction from the sales manager, then ring back and ask to speak to the dealer principal. Nothing hurts a business more than unhappy customers who talk (on forums)and these guys know it's their brand that they are trying to grow/maintain (not just make sales).
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
