Mine's supposed to be built Week 18 so I guess it won't be built till next month
The person from the dealership said it would 10 additional weeks for the car to arrive on our shores so told me a late July or early August delivery.
Does this sound right?Last edited by DoggieHowser; 28-03-2012, 04:59 PM.

If you wanted to compare I suggest you ask them what price they could do for you if you paid cash. I think then you'd see what the real cost of the car is and how much the price is loaded up with the "hidden" finance costs. Reality is it's probably 8.8% finance with 6% built into the car price.

I can only imagine how much of a problem this could create if it is true.
Luckily for me i only wanted a pepper grey or black 132 DSG with comfort pack so i had no issues and i had no need to steal a car from someone lol
There is a provision of being able to "hide" stock on NADCON without marking the vehicle as sold - those vehicles can be requested by the area manager. The practice of hiding stock is common with the more rare models such as the Scirocco as stock controllers are getting tired of multiple inquiries on stock which no-one wants to give up. As I understand this is currently under review at head office and the option might in future be disabled.

Duly noted regarding the VIN, thanks.
The question I posed was in relation to the actual time from placing an order to receiving the actual car. Delivery bordering on half a year seems excessive. You would think VW being a large volume car manufacturer, that they'd have a streamlined process implemented.
Any takers?
10 weeks are purely travel by ship from Germany
"About" 2-3 weeks is spent at PATRICKS in Australia
Turn around at dealerships is about 2 - 3 days if you don't add any extras
Build time is about 55 hours
The rest is simply wait time to get an allocation at the factory.
The process is as challenging for the sales team as it is for you as a customer - as I always remind people, we don't get paid until you pay us!

Re query on 2.8% offer.
So we ordered our 155 + leather + camera + park assist + sunroof for $49.5k back in feb to be delivered apr. A couple of weeks ago, someone from vw finance called and offered the 2.8% rate, BUT, because 'i got such a big discount on the car', to get the 2.8% rate, i must add $2k to the price of the car, plus $395 one off fee.
So i guess that proves to u that, yes, they definitely somewhat price in the interest savings into the price of the car.

I did my calculation lately regarding this 2.8% , you only save $2-3k if you're lucky to get the slightly "discounted" price for the Tig if you go with 2.8% interest.
If there is no discount at all, the total cost for the Tig(2.8%rate) is slightly more expensive than those NORMAL interest rate / without sales period Tig. (because you get lot more rebate on the Tig)
As a conclusion, 2.8% interest only benefit you on delivery time which is before April you will get your car. On price wise, you only benefit if you can get a discounted price for the Tig at 2.8% rate. (most likely the dealers are not willing to do that and you have to compromise to what they have)
This is based on my personal situation(155kW TSI), and it might not be the same for other cases.
FYI, BMW X1 is around 50k driveaway too.. Volvo is slightly higher, mid 50's... Audi Q3 (125kW - $57k)
Do Not Quote Me on the price above. This is just my research.

Still no confirmed date for delivery. Just "it should be very soon". The delivery date is supposed to be before end of April. I have faith. But the suspense is killing me. Haha
Edit: Must be getting close, just had a call from a lady at the dealership trying to sell me the paint/interior protection package at the super special pre-delivery price of $2,500. She even offered to roll it into my finance so it'll only cost me a coffee a week.Last edited by TobyJ82; 11-04-2012, 03:37 PM.MY12 155TSI TIGUAN - Comfort Pack, Beige Leather, Sat Nav, Bi-Xenons, 18" New York Alloys, Park Assist 2.

Jeez ... you must have got a really good deal on the car itself.
Cause they've obviously now sent in their best to try screw you this time.
But in all fairness $2,500 could be a bargain, if the "package" they're offering you involved a person coming around once a week doing this:

Lol, classic!
Oh and if I took up the package, I would get the choice of a free gift!! A choice between free electronic rust protection or some window film that reduces transmission of heat into the cabin meaning I don't have to use the A/C as much and save on fuel, normally valued at $700-800!!
So with the reduced price ($2500 down from $3000+) and the value of the gift options, total retail value according to them is $4000+.... YIKES!!
EDIT: If that was the free gift, I'd be choosing the 2nd one.MY12 155TSI TIGUAN - Comfort Pack, Beige Leather, Sat Nav, Bi-Xenons, 18" New York Alloys, Park Assist 2.

Call from the dealer today, car is still on the boat which has been delayed. Delivery will not be until early next month. Pre-end of April delivery was the criteria for the 2.8% finance. However, due to there being delays with the ship VW will still honour the deal.
So could still be another 3 weeks away. It's only been about 7 weeks so far. A 6 month wait would be brutal!MY12 155TSI TIGUAN - Comfort Pack, Beige Leather, Sat Nav, Bi-Xenons, 18" New York Alloys, Park Assist 2.

I assume you didn't take the offer for the protection package?
Hopefully it all happens quickly from now on so we can get you out and about in the tig (hopefully to some of our Brissie events)

Yep, very good that they are. But if they didn't, I had the option of cancelling the order. So I think it's in their interests to try and keep the sale.
And certainly didn't take the protection package offer.... I mean $2,500... come on.MY12 155TSI TIGUAN - Comfort Pack, Beige Leather, Sat Nav, Bi-Xenons, 18" New York Alloys, Park Assist 2.

Hi all,
picked up our new Tig today. Took around 5-6 weeks from the time we started talking to the dealer, to delivery
132TSI Pacific auto, (incl comfort pack, fog lights, park assist), Candy white colour, 18" alloy New York wheels, Black electric leather sports seats, electric glass roof, mudflaps, mats, premium plates, 3 yr volkswagen extended warranty + extra 3 years inchcape warranty, on 2.8% volkswagen financing (4yrs, 40% balloon/residual) for $48500 drive away.
BTW, was told by VW finance guy when we were picking up the car that the 2.8% offer has been extended for a month.Last edited by TigNSW; 27-04-2012, 11:40 PM.
