I believe RCD510 comes with a 6 cd changer plus touch screen.

And in all 3 models we can opt for the RNS510 which is basically Sat Nav.

Which means DynAudio is an additional option that doesn't come standard with any of the 3 different audio systems above.

    Am I right?

Also if I were to get Park Assist and the std RCD310 would I get a visual display for both front and rear sensors or just audible beeps?

If not do I need to upgrade to RCD510 or RNS510 to get a visual display? I'm not too fuss with not having a 6cd changer plus touch screen but would prefer a visual display for both front and rear parking sensors.

I'm also attempting to get a quote from www..betterdeal.com.au. See what I get and then use it as my basis for my negotiation.

    Thanks
I would do that, it doesn't compare. I would rather focus on finding how reliable the RNS510 is.
Than consider if it's worth it? And also how often do you buy a car? If the difference between a fake and the real thing is not much or not worth it to me to take a risk, I would buy the RNS510 and be done with it. It would work from the day one without complications and lost time to get the fake unit connected and possibly brake some clips or similar in the dashboard in the process.
    Just my 2c.

It seems to vary from market to market. Here in NZ the RNS has a 6 disc changer fitted in the armrest between the front seats, but it would appear to be different in some markets and even between Tigs within the same market.

Spook, do you know if you can run different Nav software in the RNS?

I don't know actually. But it apparently can play DVDs. Does that mean you can watch a movie on it? See link for more details:

I'll most probably not go with the RNS510 as I already have a Garmin and if the maps update cost $299 I don't think it's worth chucking out my Garmin.

However I do want a reverse sensor and rear view camera as I have young kids.

Has anyone tried putting in an after market reverse sensor + camera unit before in a tiguan or other volkswagen model? I had a friend who self installed a reverse camera into his Landrover Discovery 3 for only $240. He installed the LCD display next to his rear view mirror. It was a wireless unit so he didn't have to run any cables from the camera to the LCD display. All he had to do was to hook up the camera to one of the wires for the reverse lights to get the power off it and another wire screwed to the bottom of the car as the earth wire.

Subaru has an after market reverse sensor + camera option where the display is integrated with the rear view mirror i.e. when in reverse, half of the rear view mirror becomes the display for the rear view camera and the other half is the rear view mirror itself. I think this is a smart option so that your eyes are in the same place rather than having to look at both rear view mirror and camera which are in different positions. But this will then render the rain sensor option on the Tiguan useless as it replaces the rear view mirror completely.

My only concern is is there any risk in stuffing up the electronics in the Tiguan if I were to install an after market rear view sensor and camera?? I read somewhere on www.ozvolks.com about this guy who installed an after market bluetooth and it caused some issues to his RNS510 which volkswagen didn't want to cover under warranty.
Does anyone know who specialises in installing after market accessories for volkswagen?

I know the after market rear sensors and camera would not look as nice and neat as the std volkswagen option but it would be so much cheaper!

I have a post about all of this and other issues on mytiguan.com if that helps. It is not complete yet but has alot of information.
The LCD in the reversing mirror is OK as I have this in another car BUT on sunny days there is a reflection onto the screen which reduces visability so occasionally you have to tilt the mirror down.No problems at night though. Also there is a slight tint to the screen half of the mirror at all times. No Biggie for me but not the perfect reflective mirror they show you on the advertising pictures. In my opinion not worth it in the Tiguan as you lose the auto dimming feature of the reversing mirror. It is a clip on so rain sensing will still work.
A stand alone system with a additional screen will be easy to install but do not splice into the reversing lights as it will throw up faults as detected as blown bulb from voltage reduction.Hope that helps you.

As for looks it can be as good as OEM - see my other post

                    hey tiguan_hunting,

We ordered earlier this year, as some people have advised, at the end of the month - and haggled with the pricing.

I made a long list of every option we thought we would need and then started to haggle. My theory was to keep the price where I wanted it and was prepared to strike some of the options off the list in order to keep it there. Also had a second list with other extras that I want fitted, but wasn't prepared to have the dealer do it for us.

In the end, we pretty much got what we wanted for the around the target price and the bonus was, not all of the "sacrifice options" were omitted.

                    This is our car:

                    '09 TDI in Candy white
                    Black Leather
                    Comfort Pack
                    BiXennon lights
                    Front fog lights
                    Park Assist
                    Bluetooth
                    MDI
                    Offroad pack
Carpet floor mats and Boot liner
8" DVD roof mounted for kids
                    $49,500 drive away

                    Other extras are:

18" wheels and tyres (will keep the 16" for now)
                    Tint
                    Chip
2010 Candy White TDI Auto, black leather, bi-Xenons + fogs, DVD plus other gadgets and gizmos to keep the kids quiet!
