I'll have a guess, based upon the offsets of B5-B6 passats, MKV's and a host of other cars and say ET45

      We don't get the 16s in NZ but there's a set for sale on http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4226259 and they state that they're 16 x 6.5 x ET33

      Hope this helps

      Cheers

Don't know if it helps but 17 x 7s are 48 offset evidently (according to another Vortex file).

Hi, I would get 18x8 +35 to have a good fit, there is plenty of room in the guards. The VW 19" rims are 19x9 +33, but then they "suggest" you need the flares to make it legal.

I am in Canberra also and am getting these 19s from the states sent over if you want to share postage costs

They are an awesome gunmetal colour as opposed to the silver that places like tempetyres have and also +35 is a much better offset than the +45 rubbish you get at tempe

Nice looking rims Unfortunately I don't have enough dough at the moment, looking to get rims in a couple of months time, but thanks very much for the offer

245/45/19s seem to get pretty close to the right rolling diameter as factory and readily available. Ideally if there was such a size as a 225/50/19 I would run that to reduce the weight of the wheel/tyre combo and lets face it, even when chipped that is plenty of tyre for a Tiguan.

I'm pretty much set on 18" rims....I think....LOL. Tyre size wise for 18" 235/50/18 seems to be about right and readily available. What sort of price are you looking at for the tyres for the 19"s?

                          yep I agree 100%, 225 is plenty.

any thoughts of what brand/series tyres?

I don't think anyone makes a 225/50/19 John (well, possibly but not easily available). I've been looking at the Kumho Ecsta SPT in 235/50/18, look to be about $170-180 a corner.

Mmmm, where did you get this price from? Kumho's are not quite as good as the Yokohama Advans or the Goodyear DS-G3s but they are not bad either. And for less than half the price thats got to be something to consider. Was middle of the field in the last Tyre test and not too far off the winning pace as far as I can remember.

I was going to go for the Goodyears at $480 each but see no reason not to go with Ecstas if I can get them in Brisbane for under $200 each ..... I know youre in Canberra but if it is a national tyre chain maybe similar prices can apply here ....
