Hi just wondering if the Ross Tech VCDs would be able to program a replacement ecu or will I need the dealer to do the job
if this winds up being my issue
thanks
Thank you guys I had a feeling this would be the case, just trying to see what options I had if any as local dealer I believe charges worse than a wounded bull.
I think due to the right to repair stuff, some independents have access to GEKO and ODIS now (VWs dealer tools) might be an idea to call around and see if anyone can do it.

My friend paid just over $3k at Newcastle VW for a brand new ECU and for it to be coded to the car/immobiliser on a Mk5 Golf GTI. This was about 8 years ago so no doubt the cost has gone up since then.
If you had a secondhand ECU a lot of tuners would have the ability to clone the original ECU. Depending on the problem with it. Otherwise, someone with ODIS should also be able to perform the same function.
