Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Help! Side Mirrors with Puddle Light

    Hey Tigs!

Bought a set of the Side Indicators (bottom plastic part) with puddle lights, can't seem to get them to work. Originally the car didnt have puyddle light integrated into the side mirrors. Does VCDS require them to be coded? The wiring seem to just stem off the indicators when plugged in.

There are the items purchased from Ali Express. Click Link

Coding of the door controller would be needed; the wire that runs from the door controller to the puddle light might also need to be run. Double-check the wiring diagram to confirm.

I had a friend help me fit puddle lights to my 2011 Golf R and it required both VCDS coding and some wiring to be done into the door module. No doubt the Tiguan is much the same.

Thanks both @Lucas_R & MIG, looks like a nice project for me to do. Is there any how to's?

Im pretty sure there was a DIY guide on another Aussie VW forum, but that forum no longer exists.

Having a quick Google came up with this, although this car was factory fitted with the puddle lights. But it might give you some info on how to take the mirror apart etc.
