Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiguan MY11 Pillar A Clips

    Hi all,

I tried to open the driver side's Pillar A to wire my front dash cam and accidentally lost one of the clips which sticks to about the middle of Pillar A. I looked around for replacement in Australia but could not find any viable, apart from few dollar clips with around 50$ shipping from US/UK. Do you have any hints where I can find these clips?

    Many thanks.
    Alex

Have you tried a VW dealership?

Shipping will be free, even if they have to order them in.

Like most modern cars these days these clips are more likely suicidal meaning they will break before releasing , I have to put up with this almost every day as I fit aftermarket sunroofs and interior trim and roof lining removal is part of the job . Now if you can post a photo I may be able to point you in the right direction locally for an alternative to originals .

The clips are available from dealers for a few cents, the upper clip is a once only clip and has to be replaced whenever the A pillar cover is removed. The last time I replaced one, it cost me about $1.50. (hope you wired the dash cam behind the air bag)

Thanks all for your information. I'm travelling right now and will try a dealer when getting back.
