I was so conflicted with myself about the R line. It looks great, but then again mostly cosmetics (except progressive steering) and requires more expensive tyres as well. Ride also feel even firmer with those bigger wheels. So I decided to not have it...

It may hurt reselling price without the R line but I’ll have another 5 years (finger crossed) to worry about that.

I had the same dilemma honestly only cosmetic, and the new 19" rims on the Highline this year are pretty nice. Feels like a sporty Q5 in style. I find the R-line pack a little too ostentastious - needs more power to warrant its tough looks haha!

The ride on the fully equipped 'non-R line' has been great so far

    • Been offered 58.5k for Fully optioned MY19.5 162 non-all space. Decent or should I push for more? In Victoria btw.

Looks like 57k is achievable, especially if I'm after a MY19.5? or should I just hold out a month and a half and wait for end of year sales?

I actually wanted MY19.5 instead of MY20 as well From what I can tell, there are not many highline shorties MY19.5 around, especially if you’re picky with colours and options.
New car orders are now MY20. I got quotes for MY20 and delivery dates are Mid-late December.

Not many people achieved $57k for full optioned here, not brand new anyway, but you could push for $57.5-$58k.

Car brokers told me Oct is usually best month before xmas to buy and Dec is usually not ?!?! Maybe they’re pushing me to buy now, I’m not sure.

I paid $57.300 for my Rline with DAP and Sound but no sunroof which I would bnever have because of the leakage problems that are endemic with VW

Sorry meant with Sunroof, Sound and Vis, R-Line and Metallic paint.

Haven't haggled for them to throw in any extras, but was thinking (based on what others have said) free first service, tinting and a luggage tray? I can't think of many other things that wouldn't cost them much but would add value in my mind.

That's fair, I was hoping to sneak into the time frame where there's plenty of MY19.5s around and MY20s haven't rolled in with full supply just yet. I think you're right about the MY19.5 inventory, as one deal laughed me off for suggesting I'd get anything below $60k on a "new" Tiguan (we didn't specify MYs during the discussion).

If they throw tint in but windows are already tinted and rear doors and rest have green privacy tint so dont need any more or would possibly be illegal
The boot tray is $160 RRP $58.5 is a fairly good price with sunroof if you want one. I didnt and I got no extras at all except a tank of petrol

2 of the close-by dealers I went to didn’t seem interested as soon as I told them the quote I received from one of the brokers (and that’s $1k more than what I ended up paying!) . They told me I should take that offer!

But the third one, which got my details from a referral site, is quite opposite. He said it’s volume game for them, and willing to make a cracking deal for me, and he did!

So I guess you just have to keep going through those dealers/brokers, or spend the extra $ if you don’t want the hassle.

                    • Dropped my Golf R off for a service and walked the lot with the sales guy.

Really keen on the longer Tiguan in an R spec with towbar. Would prefer if there was a Wolfsburg variant to match my golf...

Please continue to let us know what price people are getting.

                      • Hey everyone, first post

Last Friday, I took delivery of a brand new 162TSI Tiguan, pure white, R-line, sound, sunroof. build June 2019. I paid $59k flat. Got front windows tinted darkest legal and boot liner thrown in.
                        Traded a 2014 Golf R 66000kms. Got $25k for the trade.
I miss the R but the Tiguan is bloody nice and has so many features for the price.
