  • Does "Convenience Closing" close the "glass roof"?

Picked up the new 162TSI today. Yay!

On a bit of a steep learning curve.

Owner's manual suggests that pressing and holding the lock on the keyfob should close all windows AND the "glass roof" (sunroof). Dealer told me the same.

I can't get it to work for love nor money. Windows close, sunroof resolutely stays open and mocks me.

I've run out of clues from the clue store.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

Talk to the dealer, it's probably an option that just needs to be activated via VCDS.

Sure - does this mean yours works?

Seems there are a LOT of things in the manual that don't apply here

      (Like DAB+ ... Why no DAB+????)

I haven't got mine yet! But I'm sure that if it's not working for you now then they'll be able to sort it out. No idea why we don't be DAB+, it's on the discover unit in the UK, so don't know why we miss out.

Oops - didn't read your signature.
          Sorry about that.

I'll chat to the dealer tomorrow about that - maybe hassle him about DAB+ too. Perhaps it's just a software setting

Dab+ is a hardware problem Probably the same as the RNS510. Only the later ones with a different motherboard had it.

Isnt the Euro DAB different to AUS which is one of the few countries to have DAB+

            Worth a read https://media.info/radio/opinion/dab...-use-in-the-uk

I have only been able to get the windows to open and close with the key, nothing I have done has managed to get the sunroof to open or close as per the manual.

I also find it quite annoying that you have to keep the button depressed in order to open or shut the windows otherwise they stop at the point where you let go of the button.

I have also had issues with locking the car by pressing the door handle. I can do it no issues to open the car but it works maybe once out of every ten attempts when locking it. Very annoying as the last thing I want to do is to you use the key and my 6 year old Kia managed to get this working...

I would probably be ok with the press to unlock not working because then I can use the key to unlock and open the windows early and then press to lock and walk away after shutting everything while still in the car but its the worst of both worlds.

That would pi** me off to. I just use my thumb on the little indentation on the handle to lock and then grab the whole handle to unlock.... has worked faultlessly every time.... sorry for your angst!!

on our MKVI GTI all the windows and sunroof opened (slide for sunroof) when you held the unlock button and all closed when you held the lock button down... I think it was a setting in the MFD menus that had to be ticked in order to get the sunroof to work.

I actually like that feature (on my Jetta). It means I can lower and raise the windows so that there is an air gap when I'm locking the car. I think that's why its configured that way...

Might I ask how long the dealer spent explaining how everything works when you picked up your car?

                        Hi
To get the door to lock you must not wrap your hand around the door handle. You need to form a fist and use your thumb on the dimple on the outside of the handle. Works fine for me

Actually, this makes sense. I recall reading in the manual that the locking sensor is on the inside of the handle, where as the unlock sensor is the visible one on the outside.

Yes, requires VCDS coding and that is possible across other models that have the remote function, even rain sensor option (I have read about) where it will close automatically if starts to rain . Here is an example for Golf MK7:

Actually, I think you have this arse about.

To lock the door you touch the dimple on the outside of the door handle.

To unlock the door you put you hand inside the handle to open it. The sensor to unlock the door is on the inside of the handle.

There's one other thing to note. If you lock the door, as previously mentioned, then realise you've left something in the car and immediately try to open it, as previously mentioned, it won't open. There is a time delay very cleverly built into the system. It's there so you can lock the door, then check it's locked by pulling in the handle. Very clever these Germans.

Another thing to mention when washing your car. Water flowing over the dimple will lock the doors if you have the key in your pocket. To avoid this I put the key in the centre console. The doors won't lock if the car detects the key is inside.

It also won't lock the doors unless the gear selector is in park. Took me ages to work that one out one day.

These vehicles and their tech really is a voyage of discovery.

I echo what others have said here. The sunroof (moonroof if you happen to be driving at night) can be programmed quite easily to close with the key, or on sensing rain, with VCDS.
