Ps I nearly got the diesel but waited 3 months for the petrol... it would have been another 3 months for the R line which I wasn’t willing to do after waiting 7 months for my Golf R when I got that last time..
Thanks! That’s local for me so I’ll go see them for a small repair and get quote for the lot as well.
Similar story for me, 7 month wait for R-Line was too long. My lease is up in 8 months and considering keeping it and starting some customisation.... sounds like I would have to be ordering the R-Line in January otherwise.

Any idea on how they made the rough textured plastic nice and smooth? Did he fill it? Or spray with primer and sand back?
Getting the tuner to install most likely on the 20th. However if I can find someone just to install the cooler before that I will as I’m on holidays as of tomorrow and bored lol.

The tune is being done regardless on the 20th. Quote is $500 ish for cooler install.
I did the intercooler install myself to save $ in labour. Budget on a full day in the drive and you should be fine. It’s not difficult just a bit time consuming.
Also if you are going to attempt it take photos of each connector/wire before you remove them so you can remember where they go when putting everything back.
Quite a few DIY videos on YouTube too - mostly for Mk7 Golf but they’re almost identical (exact same steps just some small differences in wires depending on if you’re running fogs or ACC).
I’ve done basics like install air pod and piping etc, and did install an intercooler with my mate on his skyline but I’ve been told the Golfs and VWs are a bit of effort. In saying that I got Goran to install my Golf R intercooler and he knocked that out in a few hours on his own.
