    • Tiguan has now done 600km and I am very impressed. Over the last 2 days I have been driving brother in law's Toureg R line, the 250kw v8 version. I think they are around $115k to buy. I drove it for around 250 km through the hills and on the highway. It was a very good drive and quite amazing that it weighed 2 tonnes and accelerated like an SS Holden. It's ride was as you would expect from an expensive limo.

Now to the point----Today I drove our 162TSI over the same road and I reckon that Tiggy was pretty much the same except it didn't push the front as much on the bends. The ride was almost as good and I think it was as quiet.
I have disabled the lane assist, as it was a little spooky sometimes, seeing lines that did not exist. I did give it the berries off the line when I was alone, and it did get up and go, with quite an impressive howl of the tyres. Goody!!
After GTI, I am not disappointed, actually, very pleased.

Mate. That sounds very promising. Thanks for posting ... Can't wait. Any exhaust tone at the higher rev range ?

        • One of you blokes described the exhaust note as sounding like a toilet hand drier. Spot on!

          • Throw out the exhaust system and put in a straight through 2.5 inch pipe connected to a 2.5 inch straight through muffler. The rich deep note has to be heard. So beautiful. It is also very quiet when you are not acceĺlerating.

                • I haven't taken delivery yet, however coincidentally had two Tiguan (Diesel Highline, R) park in front of me this weekend (city and shopping centre). Had a chat with both drivers... feedback from both below, thought others may be interested:

1: Regrets not waiting for the 162, regrets not getting sunroof, loves DAP, park assist gets confused when parking over new bike lanes and needing to cross over into parking spot. Absolutely loves car.

2: Boot could be bigger, not too happy with paint job, headlights very impressive, dash sunglasses lid doesn't sit flush, loves everything else about car

Both didn't know of the traffic reporting option, as not turned on by dealer.

Mostly more of what we already know!

You can activate traffic info (traffic congestion on maps) via a VCDS setting.

Ah, ok, thanks. Sounds like an obvious thing you'd want on. Do you have any idea why it needs activating by the dealer rather than being on by default?

The dealer won't do it. Against policy.

You'll need someone with VCDS to activate it for you. A simple task. 5 minutes max.

Because this is a feature that we're not supposed to have and so it's turned off?

Does anyone in Melb know where we can get it done?

Yeah, it's not licensed in Australia by VW, so it is disabled by default.
