      • There is a Black 162 R-Line with DA and Sunroof available at Sydney City VW.
I just picked up my Grey 162 R-Line and it is awesome. I wished I got the white in reality but then I saw the Black at the dealership, omfg it is the best by far, the trim and lights contrast perfectly, it looks another whole level above, it looks bigger even. I asked to swap right there and then but they had already fitted my towbar and done the rego in my name.
Anyway they have it there ready to sell right now because a customer just cancelled their order. There are no discounts at all so will be full RRP but you could have it today. Call Peta Swan there if you want one real bad.
For all those waiting hang in there, I ordered in July last year thinking I would get one in September so the wait till now has been murder.

Tortugas left on 8 Mar and due in Port Kembla on 14 Apr. Expect delivery late April I guess.

It seems the production must be catching up. We ordered just before Xmas, were initially told July delivery, then late May, but now it seems it's come forward another month. For us, about four months from order to pickup.

Here's another, possibly better, tracking site.

I found the vessel hadn't moved in ages, still stuck off the coast of Portugal on the other site.

The vessel finder site has it far more advanced, down off the coast of Morocco.

Seems to be a little more iPad friendly too.

Bloody hard to close the rear hatch - so stiff - in the one I tried out today. Had to give it a REAL hard pull, my wife will struggle...

First question is are you looking at a 110TSI or 110TDI? There's about $7k difference in the sticker price between the 2.

The best I've seen is about 10% off in the Eastern states but if you got 5% off the RRP in Perth then you're probably doing pretty well. Also if the dealer has the car in stock you've got a better chance vs. if they have to swap with another dealer as transport costs in Perth is going to be the killer.

If you're not up for the negotiation merry-go-round then I suggest you talk to a broker with the exact specs/colour that you're after and let them do the haggling for you. They may even get the car from interstate and truck it across if the local guys won't play ball.

                    • Guys who still thinking between TDI and TSI engines.

When I compared fuel price difference and fuel consumption difference, next calculated with price difference between engines it gives me 60-80kkm* before I spend this difference on fuel! In my case this means more than 5-6 years of exploatation in my case (max 12kkm per year).

                      * - depends on fuel type regular/premium

You definitely want the 7 speed gearbox in the TDI.

                        Apparently is far more reliable.

                            I definitely don't want TDI

                              Hey mate,

I have noticed on the tracking site that 10-15 of the cars unloaded in both Melbourne and Port Kembla have cleared customs a day or two earlier than than the rest. Wonder if they have been allocated to dealers as display stock and have been expedited through customs?

It will also be interesting to see which one of us will be able to get their cars first...

I'm not sure that they would prioritise, I'd say they are just the first to have come off the vessel. Does clearing customs equate to "DELIVERED FROM" in the tracking status?
