For sure. It helped that I was very flexible on the colour/options too.

I really liked how bright and airy the car was, and when I drove the R-Line is seem to have lost that feeling because of the dark interior. I'm just hoping that a bit of extra light coming in from the sunroof might help.
Yeah mate .. same here. One of the key reasons going sun roof. Felt much more airy and lighter

        • Hi All.
We ordered a 162tsi rline last August with expected delivery Nov/Dec 2016. Well it was unloaded from the ship yesterday and surprise, surprise I get a call from the dealer today. They want to review the trade-in because it's been more than a few months. I have the original trade-in deal in writing with no "subject to" clause but I feel there is a bit or argy-bargy coming on. Any-one else have this experience?

Well if it's not in writing then I don't think they have a leg to stand on. I'd hold your ground and counter with the fact that if they delivered the car when they said they were going to (and not 2-3 months late) then it wouldn't be a problem. Put it back on them that they're the ones who haven't met the timeline and that you'd expect to be compensated

It all depends on how hard a bargain you drove in the first place whether they are losing on the deal. If they try and draw up a new contract I wouldn't be signing it unless it's in your favour.

            • Thanks Tigger. I wondered if they are trying this 'customer experience' with others since the demand is so high. We'll stand our ground at this stage and hope this blows over. The reviews and photos we've seen, particularly the one with the X5 parked behind the R-line, are making us a bit excited!

I got called yesterday about pick up on Monday. Unfortunately you will have to get a review of the trade in. The trade in price you get prior when ordering doesn't stand. Only if you agree for them to take the car then and pay in full for the new car on the spot. Since I ordered the car in September last year and the agreed value of my trade in today, I've ended up losing $3K..unfortunately that's just how it is, car is another 5 months older than when I ordered the Tig and I've put on another 10,000Kms. So would be unrealistic to expect it to be worth the same amount.

                • Have a look at your contract. Because the dealer has written it, it will be 100% in their favour. Do your research into wholesale values of your trade-in and/or look to sell it privately for the original trade-in price if they're going to offer a low-ball price.

The dealer can easily sell your car to the next person that walks through the showroom so he has you over a barrel. It depends on how tight a deal you've negotiated in the first place. If it's close to RRP then I'd be getting the dealer to take the hit on the trade. And if they were expecting a 3-4 month wait and it's been delivered in 5-6 then there's only really a 2 month differential so you could argue that you should only take the loss in the 2 months and not the full 6.

I'd still be playing hard ball and making them sweat, drag it out until the car is ready for delivery. Call their bluff and walk in there with the cash for the original deal. It's still a valid contract unless someone wants to invoke one of the get out of jail clauses.

Of course it also depends on how many km you've put on your car and if there's been change in condition to when they have done the original assessment. But a change in value of $3k seems a bit steep.

When I ordered a GLC they locked in the trade in price even though there was a 6 month wait. Seems to me VW are trying to nickel and dime their customers. It's NOT how you create a good customer experience.

Interesting .. when I was ordering my glc 43AMG they mentioned I need to come in for a trade in value a
Month before it arrives to evaluate. So I don't think this is specific to VW specifically. You are one of the lucky ones mate or just a better negotiator

                        • My dealer gave me a trade in value for my Golf R when I ordered the Tiguan back in July/August which I thought was a pretty good price back then. When the car arrived end of December and I picked it up at the start of January there was no issue with the Trade In even though it was 6 months later, they honoured the agreed value and didn't mention it at all just had to pay the change over value and away I went. In fact I don't think they even looked at my old car at all before I drove the new one away. They still have it for sale on their yard, wonder how long it will take to go?

So not a VW specific thing then.

                            • Got a call out of the blue from my dealer yesterday. I can pick up my tig next week after they fit the tow bar. Apparently it was a cancelled order. 162tsi, r-line, and DA in pure white. Better than the wait anticipated.
Now Tiguan 162 TSI, R-line, DA, Pure White.
Past 2011 Passat TDI Highline wagon (which never had a problem in 125,000kms).

No, I checked again this morning. I see all of the 888s but mine isn't one of them. Here's hoping ours are on the UDINE.
