My dealer has confirmed that my 162TSI R-Line will be handed over for production for Christmas eve. I can only assume that it's on track for Feb delivery.

There is an old saying.
"Believe nothing of what you hear (from a Dealer) and only half of what you actually see."
along the same lines as
"The written word never lies."
Cold comfort, apologies.Ordered: 2017 build date Tiguan 162 TSI Highline with DAP in Tungsten Silver and rear luggage tray. ETA: late April / Early May. I did not have to wait.I took delivery on 11 March 2017.

Haven't spoke to the dealer yet as I have only just received an email this evening. It's got a link to a VW website saying my car has been built. No other information on the site. Anyone else received something similar?
Considering the estimated delivery date on my order is 31st May does this mean I will get it sooner or is May still the expected date given the boat ride it has to go on?

I have now joined the waiting line of eager 2017 build date Tiguan 162 TSI highline with DAP in Tungsten Silver with a rear rubber luggage tray.
Firstly, a debt of gratitude to REXman and especially Gladbach.
I have been very busy from last Friday to today.
I settled on the above as my preferred spec Tiguan and was in contact / dealing with:
1. Chris David - National Car Brokers. He is very helpful and was the first to offer $52,500 drive away. Chris provided that verbal quote on Friday afternoon. As I gave a commitment to another Broker I felt that I was obligated to hear from him so I advised Chris that I would let him know Monday (today). During the conversation Chris emphasised that his price included a “large” fleet discount.
2. Louis Upton – Bill Buckle VW Brookvale. He is the easiest going salesman I have come across. He was there when you had a question and left you alone to have a “play”. He let the car sell itself. We test drove both the 132TSI with DAP and the 140TDI R-Line. (We also tested the 206 TSI R-Line Passat wagon. I really like the get up and go, but Wife liked the Tiguan more as it is what she was looking for.) I found it very interesting that Louis was able to better Chris’s lowest price by $100. (No fleet discount applicable for me. I am just a lonely private buyer.) So, Louis offered $52,400 drive away. I also stated that I gave a commitment not to proceed until Monday afternoon (today)
3. James Chen – North Shore VW. (REXman originally recommended I speak with Charlie Woods, but he was on annual leave.) They are the closest to where we live, we will be having them service this car. I asked James to commit to $52,000 drive away and I would come in and not only place an order but put down a deposit as well. They asked for a photo of my driver’s licence and credit card to demonstrate I was legit. I provided that to him. He came back saying they could not agree to that price. He then asked me as they were the closest VW dealer and obviously would be servicing the car how much extra would I be willing to pay for the privilege. I stated that if they could not deal at $52,000 what could they? This was an impasse and we agreed to “let it go”.
4. Lloyd Wilson – CarLoans.com.au (Broker) (part of the John Cadogan [AutoExpert.com.au] group) I gave them the above details about a week earlier. Up until last Friday, they could only provide a $56,780 DA quote but stated the majority of dealers had not responded as yet. Today Lloyd rang me and quoted $51,887 drive away. I “thought” for about 0.000001 nano seconds and then said YES. I will take that price. One hr later, I received the purchase order, signed it and returned it. I have attached a screen shot of the details.
One important difference with this broker as against National Car Brokers. CarLoans.com.au charge the Dealer the $175 fee where National Car Brokers charge the client (you) a fee of $165.
I rang both Louis and Chris to thank them for their time and assistance and advised them that they were unsuccessful. (I try to treat people how I want to be treated - with respect.)
As I knew I would be waiting at least a few months for the Tiguan, I specified a 2017 build date. This has pushed the delivery date to late April to early May 2017. This actually suits us because we are going on annual leave end of March to end of April 2017.
Considering my last purchase of a new car was 14 years ago, I am very happy to have found VWWatercooled Forum and the very helpful people active on this forum.
I hope my experience has set a new low bar for dealers to go even lower. Good luck to all that go after me.
Best wishes,
David
Delivery to 2064 is my postcode. not the delivery date.

Hi bahrcourt,
I am happy for you to use my name as a contact reference. I understand these car brokers deal Australia wide so I will give you both company’s details. Also they can only present what they are offered from the dealers they put the tender to, so every “deal” is independent of previous deals.
Lloyd Wilson
CarLoans.com.au
Tel: 1300 719 925
Email: Lloyd.wilson@carloans.com.au
Christopher David
Nationalcarbrokers.com.au
Tel: 1300 922 022
Email: cdavid@nationalcarbrokers.com.au
I suggest trying both as they may deal with different dealers and maybe this time Chris David may come in cheaper.
Please keep us posted on the outcome. The more we as a community know, the better "armed" we are to get the best possible price at the time.
Good luck.

They got my Tiguan wrong. I ordered my Tiguan in June. I have been tracking it on the ship. It was due to unload at Port Kembla 14 December. Up at my dealer finalising paperwork on Wednesday when we noticed no Sunroof and no Drivers Assist, the stock controller had mad a mistake. I'm now looking at April probably. No stock available to fix the issue. If anyone wants a Indium Grey 162 R-Line then North Shore Volkswagen have one on the way, should be ready for delivery start of January.

Bugger - that's a kick in the plums! Feel for you mate especially having waited for it since June - I'd be screwing them down for some form of compo for their mistake either financially or something like a free service (or two)Tiguan 162TSI Highline with DAP in White.

No. not free service.
It's their mistake. Clear and simple.
They should pay the Air Freight to get it to you in the same time that you would have received the original one if they did not make this blunder.Ordered: 2017 build date Tiguan 162 TSI Highline with DAP in Tungsten Silver and rear luggage tray. VW Australia car configurator now includes the 162TSI. The images show the design of the exhausts.
Looks pretty sharp. Will scope out if they have also updated the brochure.
