  • Power tailgate stopped working after manual intervention

I was closing the tailgate (electrically) and realised I needed to do grab something else out of the boot, so I stopped it by hand (it was about halfway down) and then had to push it back up manually to open it. However, since then the tailgate wont open or close electrically - have to manually open/close. The external tailgate handle button, driver's side door button and key fob button all release the lock mechanism but it just wont lift or lower on its own. Have tried the '3-second press and hold' of the internal tailgate button, which gives off the 'chirp' sound, but no change in operation. Have tried the same with the driver's door button but has no effect. Is there another way of resetting the operation of the tailgate? Surely a manual intervention wouldn't have damaged it. Cheers.

You probably activated a safety cut off feature - eg if the boot detects an object stopping it from closing, it should stop and raise back up.
