Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiguan R Leather Seats Retrofit?

    Hi all,

I've recently installed Tiguan R seats (electric seats, memory seat function, heated seats, and the TVs at rear seat)

Electrician came past and hooked them up for me, the electric seat functions worked for 5 min and then stopped working. Didn't test anything else because they stopped working before I could. Electrician tested different fuses/bigger fuses and no avail.

Any advice on how to get these fixed, I have 0 knowledge on coding.

The seats were from possibly a 2019 Tiguan R and my car is Tiguan MY17 5NA.

Im sure someone with more electrical knowledge than me will chime in, but on modern cars you cant just swap parts like powered seats over without wiring, electrical component changes and coding. You could 20 years ago perhaps, but not these days.

If your car came with cloth seats that were not powered from the factory then you will be missing various electrical components required to have this functionality.

I guess your Electrician only hooked up the power and GND to the seats?, with MQB platform modules, they wake up via a virtual terminal 15 that is sent over the CAN bus the "Klemmen_Status_01".
By checking the factory wiring diagram for your Tiguan you should find where the CAN lines need to be connected.
