Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Driving Light Mounting Bar

Someone posted here pics of a driving light bar they made that fitted behind the grill but I can't find it. Does anyone recall the post, it may have been in a thread started by someone else.

Thanks for the reply, not the one I was thinking of but it gives me some idea of how I can make one. I am sure the one I remember seeing was made by the owner of the car and it showed a front shot with the grill removed. I have made a previous version but it is a bit clunky and I don't like it at all.

They also have this but I can’t tell by the pics how it mounts or how solid it would be

G'day I have done it on my 2015 Tiguan.

I have a 2015 Tiguan and I fitted a 32 inch Stedi curved light bar behind the bottom part of the lower grill.
It was "Professionally Fitted" using a Stedi number plate mount first up when I was working in Melbourne in early 2020.
When I moved back to Townville I refitted it to its current position.
The Front bar reinforcement is hardened steel which I could not drill thru with cobalt drills.
I got the four bolt holes water jet cut by a local sheet metal shop ( Cost $50 )

The bar has to be solid as it will have two LED Cibie Super Oscars on it. The current mounts are not easy to attach and I don't like leaving the lights on the car when I am not driving long distance. I should have been more specific in my post because light bar has a different meaning these days to some people. Thanks for all the replies and the ideas, I have thought of mounting an LED light bar between the Cibies so one or the other could be used depending on circumstances.
