I have given up. Could do it on a PC as no Win Zip or RAR. My car has a recall for the sunroof in early January so I will get VW to do it for me.

Follow prompts and tell it to do its thing about 3 hours later or maybe less it will be on your HDD.

This is presuming you have a Discover PRO or Discover Media in your car. Select correct model and year of vehicle first.

Put a 32gb SD card or a USB stick in the lappy Using 7zip or RAR tell it to extract the file you downloaded to the card Takes a fair while


7Zip is available from the map page if you scroll down to the bottom It says Zip software


I did it all the hard way in 3 hours yesterday and it works perfectly.

You will be bloody lucky to get a dealer to do it as it takes about 40 mins to load in a car

Thats why its on a webpage for owners to do it themselves

It seems Discover Care has gone by the wayside as I looked on the Web for it and it no longer appears anywhere. Found an old version which told me to update when I tried to use it and it diverted me to the German site.

After stuffing around and having to open an account I finally got the the download page. The map on there is the identical one to what we go to here except all text on the website is in German.(Obviously)

The instructions for installation are the same as posted above.

I have Discover Care V1.04 and it only finds last June's map no matter what I try to tell it to look for

I use 7zip to unpack it and no problems getting it working.

Sunroof LEDs were disabled because some wiring got wet and caused a fire and so easiest fix was not to have it. Some were just not connected and some had parts not installed to prevent it working , but light strips were left in. Cant see the point of it myself. Its a bit like putting fancy icing on a cake, Looks nice but SFA use

Finally managed to solve my issue. One of the 32GB USB has a size less than the normal full size even after a clean format. Works fine with any zip extractor.

Maybe not but i reckon you are overthinking it a bit. That is a recognised test for fake cards , which are usually 8GB cards doctored to make them look like larger ones. If they are who cares what make they actually are. just chuck them and buy from recognized sellers.

Bought a Samsung which was cheap and I figured it was fake and H2testW confirmed it and the seller ended up talking to the fraud squad.

Never by off Ebay or Gumtree or 3rd party Amazon sellers

Yes you can get programs to see if they are genuine but if there is also articles on how to identify real from copies

Bought from a major retailer. The size was only off by a few 100MB in a 32GB but enough the SatNav update would not fit.

Need some guidance here. Have downloaded the P90 discover pro file from the VW site as provided in this thread. Have unzipped directly to USB (fat32 format). Stick USB to my VW Passat and while the system recognises the USB.. I have done countless update searches (either through Nav Settings or General Settings) and return same error message "Error: no data available. Please insert a source with software update or check the source". I have already tried using SD card with exFAT format. Am at a lost what I am doing incorrectly. Please help!
