  • VW android auto connectivity issue

I have a Huawei Mate 20 Pro. It always disconnects when I plug the physical data cable to my Allspace. My wife's iphone never has this issue with same car. Does it to do with Huawei's compatibility with VW or it's a generic Android thing? Any solution for this? Many thanks.

I have a Pixel and very very rarely have any issues
Occasionally it won’t connect if I jump out and then back into the car very quickly

Same issue here. Samsung Galaxy S20 and Android Auto can be quite flaky at times. I used to think it was the cable, but I have spent money on high quality USB-C cables and have churned through quite a few. I'll be taking mine back to the dealer.

it looks like a common problem for Android users.

I’ve had a couple of these issues with my Google pixel. I’ve cleaned out the pocket fluff from the phones connection slot and that seems to have helped so far.

I use a pin to clean it out. Seems a common problem with other method suggested online.

Have also ordered a cable with a connector that stays in the phone and connects magnetically to the cable to see if this makes a difference.

I bought some of these Universal Fast Charge Data USB-Type-C-Magnetic-Cable-For-Google-HUAWEI-OPPO. They have a plug that stays in the phone’s USB-c Slot permanently, and keeps the pocket dust out. Sits in there firmly. No android auto connection problems since. Needed to buy a couple so I can charge the phone when not in the car!

If you buy one, make sure it says for data and charge- the first one I bought did not do the data.

The magnetic connector is definitely the way to go. Also recommend dodgying up a dock to slot the phone in and out of.

I've found my pixel 3 has not connecting the first time more recently - but easy to do a one handed undock/redock to get it to connect.

Also had a handful of times that android auto on the head unit completely dies and needs you to switch off the engine to fix. Pretty rare though.
