  • Silicone inlet hose trouble

    Hey guys,

Has anyone had any difficulties with a silicone turbo inlet hose fitting the stock box and stock turbo elbow? I've tried two different brands now that say they fit but they do not match up at all.

Here is a photo of the issue.

Any ideas, or brands that you guys have tried that has slotted in.

I had no problems fitting an ECS Tuning one to mine when I had it but theirs looks a bit different to the one you have, yours looks to have sharper bends:

Are you sure it isn’t something as simple as flipping it around the other way?

      Silicone inlet hose trouble

I’ve got a Racingline one for sale at the moment. Ended up going back to stock as I didn’t like the fitment on the Tiguan.

If you know what you’re looking at you can see that there’s a gap to where it should sit on the turbo inlet pipe. The hose doesn’t sit hard up against the shoulder and then there’s not so much to clamp to:

I did think about cutting the hose but the ends to make it fit better but wasn’t an ideal result so took it off and will look at other options.

It only goes one way, I've tried flipping it and rotating it, but it only goes on one way, one hole is larger than the other hole.

It's almost as if my turbo/inlet need to be rotated towards the firewall slightly.

Are the two brands you’ve tried, both top of their price bracket- or the opposite end?

And for guesses- is there a difference between the 132 engine and the 162 (I feel they are both different series/models of hardware)

The 132 and 162 air intakes hoses are completely different. The 132TSI runs a MAF, whereas the 162 is MAFless.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s a difference between the Tiguan and sedan/hatch layouts and that you really need the hoses/connectors to suit.

I know with the Wagner intercooler I installed it had a different version for Golf and Tiguan. I believe this was mainly due to slightly different length intercooler inlet/outlet pipes.

I've ordered an ECS Tuning hose now. If it's fit a car in here already surely I'll have some luck with it

                      Fingers crossed!

For those interested, I've tried forge motorsport and leyo

Still have not had any luck with any silicone inlet hose for the Tiguan. Does anyone actually have one fitted and it fit correctly without any modifications?

Might be a sign to look for a new CAI, rather than just swapping out the inlet pipe 😉

I think it’s more to the point that nobody has made one specific to the Tiguan.

There just isn’t that big a market for it.

I'm not sure of the CAI will fit either because they would still be marketed for a golf or something of the sort so I would still have the same fitting issues.

I've contacted racingline to see if theirs will fit. It says it's for all mqb ea888.3 cars with a stock turbo and stock or racingline brand airbox.

So I'll wait and see what happens with this.
