One of the obdeleven mods I have done is DRL off when handbrake is on, I have my tiguan booked in for yearly service and wondering if the mechanic when checking lights for operation is going to think there is a fault.
Do I be up front and it will get noted on my records or say nothing?
Has anyone else had this situation and how did you deal with it?

You may find that any computer updates they apply (if relevant) reset this option back to factory default. I’ve had this a few times with traffic sign recognition.

Technically doing that is illegal because DRL's are deemed to be a safety feature and it is illegal to disable a safety feature that is built into the car

Reset it back to normal for the service Easy to do and wont cause a problem Dont know why you want to turn it off but its a nuisance sitting in the garage playing and they are on, i will admit A far better mod is to turn tails on with DRL

I can't speak to the fault code which may appear, but they've never cared about any of the cosmetic modifications/DLA/TP i've done through obdeleven.

Maybe an easy test you can run is to connect the obdeleven dongle to your car and see if any light-related faults appear on the app. If not, you may be in the clear for when they run their diagnostics.

If you have done the mod correctly there wont be any fault codes I did a scan with mine 2 days ago after changing my 6 digit key in the unit and no codes came up and Ive done 17mods

That's exactly the reason I did it, more worried about them looking for faulty globes etc as someone has mentioned.
Is it still illegal even though DRL are only off with handbrake on and hence stationary?

As far as I can ascertain any interference wit a safety feature is. But that works Ok because when H/brake is off lights are on

Why would you go to a dealer for basic servicing? There are plenty of reputable VW workshops that can do log book servicing for a better price.

Some folks get a better sense of security when buying a second hand car with full manufacturers service history

The reason for doing this mod is that if you're going to the drive-in you can park without having the park lights/DRL going.

Would the DRL’s not turn off at the dial?

Nope. It's coded - default is if you have the accessories/ignition on then the DRL's are on.

That's what the OBD11/VCDS coding will do is switch them off when you have your handbrake engaged.
