  • Fuel gauge problem

    Hi all,

I have recently taken delivery on my new MY20 Allspace Highline. Car has 150km on the clock and the fuel gauge indicates that it has a full tank of fuel and on the infotainment display it indicates that there is 70km left until it needs a refuel. As much as I would love an everlasting tank of fuel, this is unlikely and would hate for the car to run out of fuel on me due to a faulty fuel sensor or display.

Has anyone come across this issue? If so, how did the dealer service department deal with it?

I will give the dealer a call today and will keep you updated.

Before going there, just fill up the tank. I suspect the problem will be gone. This car has never been refuelled, so it’s computer hasn’t been told what ‘full’ is before. It likely had an ecu reset/update and it took the current reading as ‘full’

My car played silly buggers rafter a dealer visit for 2 tanks of fuel. Said I had 2000km to empty! It gradually re-calibrated itself (the next 2 tanks)

Thanks Simonr23. I might try that. Will be interesting to see how much fuel is in the tank. I was told a full tank of fuel. It's hardly been driven as I've been waiting on custom seat covers (two little kids who just chuck food around in the car) so will be driving it more as of this week as the covers just came in.

      Will keep you all posted.

That sounds like the fuel gauge is probably right then. Might be just the trip computer needing to recalibrate itself. Still fill up- for your own pice of mind and My guess is that the distance to empty won’t reach 20kms- until you’ve actually used enough fuel to justify that number

Also, good choice on the spec/car (same one here- though the diesel from last year)

Thanks everyone. The car only has about 180km on the clock so will fill up first to see of it recalibrates itself.

              Hey mate,

I've got the exact same problem with my All-Space. Did you end up getting yours resolved?

I also had this exact problem when I picked up my Allspace 6 weeks ago.
It is a software update issue, known to VW. I was told that the bulletin came out while my car was in pre-delivery, but was missed. They plugged it in for 30 minutes, downloading the new software, and it has been spot on since.
                Just speak to your dealer.

                    Hi all,
I had this fixed last week with my car having done 820km. It was a software update and can report that the fuel gauge is working as it should be.
Service was great and topped up my oil as it was a little on the lower end.

Dropped the car off to get this resolved and as confirmed by others, it's a software fix/ recalibration that's needed to resolve the problem. Thanks again all!
