I think you need to have an entry in the calendar for today. Otherwise it just says it cant find an entry

If you have wireless connectivity - which I think is only available on the upcoming Passat in VW land, and some 2020 Skoda models

Only BMWs I heard have wireless connection to Carplay and Android Auto now, but manufacturers will introduce more and more cars with this type of connection in the future. Definitely does not exist in the Tiguans yet so cable it is.

My Andorid Auto (new version) is acting strangely sometimes, on two occasions Waze frozen during driving, I had to change to my phone to continue.

There are some adaptions available in my car and presumably others.

I enabled these + the 5GHz WiFi spectrum but no luck.

Guessing it requires an updated MIB firmware.

It won't be enough unfortunately. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto will require a different WiFi hardware what we have currently in our cars.

As far as I'm aware the Discover Pro comes with both an inbuilt GPS receiver and dual band WiFi router (5GHz enabled through adaptions). I could be wrong though.

If that's the case it's just software/firmware remaining.

Rest assured it will be available only in new vehicles.
Why make it available in existing vehicles when you can force someone to upgrade based on a $200 upgrade?

Then why do you think the brand new Tuareg with all the tech bells and whistles does not have wireless CarPlay and AA? Kind of defeats the logic here.

                              Have you heard of marketing?
                              It's an industry.
They charge big $ to make sure anything technically possible is only available for additional $
