Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

without knowing the answers for a tiguan, 275mm maybe pushing the limits of space for lock-stops and brake lines and what-not back there- especially when it comes to the new rims you buy.
You’re supposed to keep the same offset, when changing, so be aware of what you’ve got currently (tigger will know) to make an educated decision.
You come across as someone who is intelligent and switched-on, so as long as you don’t instantly/blindly believe what any sales people tell you, you’ll come out very happy. Tyres/engine/the lot
Anyway slightly of topic there haha, what would you say if I stuck with some 20" wheels - Best tyre sizes for comfort,, low noise and good grip wet/dry but not a really soft compound as they'll wear pretty quickly?2018 Tiguan Allspace R-Line - Platinum Grey Metallic

Thanks Ozsko - I actually agree with you there, they are great if taking corners quickly, quite responsive but horrible over small bumps or potholes. You really feel it especially with the harder suspension on the front.
When purchasing the car I wanted to swap the wheels to something they had on the rack which was a 19" but looked nice but the sale guy said I couldn't as they come with the R-line package. I would have to purchase a whole set with tyres as they had to be registered to the car like the R-line wheels? So I quickly walked away.2018 Tiguan Allspace R-Line - Platinum Grey Metallic

So anyway, regards the upgrade to stage 2.5/3 - Still waiting on one more quotation before I get things moving, want to service my car beforehand also.
1st tuner I've pulled away from as I heard/read their reputation on builds are shocking - Price was expensive $9k+ with intercooler but no DSG tune.
2nd tuner - Price reasonable - IS38, CAI, Downpipe, custom tunes ECU & DSG but no intercooler upgrade - $6.5k+.
3rd tuner - Can't get the IS38 & the K04 doesn't bolt straight on (like Tigger73 said)! So he's looking into other options what he can source or I will purchase the turbo myself from somewhere? Mods would beCAI, Downpipe, custom tunes ECU & DSG but with the additional intercooler and Turbo muffler delete. Price ???2018 Tiguan Allspace R-Line - Platinum Grey Metallic

Regarding tyres- there aren’t any sets that will meet all those points.
To get the best grip in the wet, you need an aggressive tread pattern- that makes a bit of noise. Honestly the tigs are well isolated from outside noises, that I wouldn’t care.
To get good grip, you sacrifice longevity.
Our cars are tall(ish) and heavy, tyres will just wear faster. Especially the outside edge of the fronts. Frequent rotations will help a lot (every 5000km)
I’m a fan of continental contisportcontact 6’s. They’re at the higher end for grip and medium for tyre life. Probably get anywhere from 15000(enthusiastic driving) to 30000km(normal freeway and stop/start city) they have great dry and wet grip, too.
These days lots of tyres are good, which is great
I had a 450kw turbo falcon, that I was wasting money on tyres, so started buying cheapies from my Bridgestone dealer. I can’t think of the brand right now, but they were great. Wore out fast, but had great grip wet/dry and throughout their tread life- something many tyres don’t do. Cheapies especially.

I'm looking at changing the R-Line wheels as 1. they weigh 30kgs each and 2. they somehow quite brittle.
I had to drive through resurfacing works and the two passengers side wheels chipped on the rim! VW want $1500 each for these, which is ridiculous!!! I know I can get them repaired but what's stopping it from happening again. So I figured I'll changed the whole set to aftermarket and if it happened it'll most likely won't cost $1500 each.
I know my tyres are 255/40R20, if went the wheel size like tigger73's wheels 20x9 and got say a 275/40R20 there wouldn't be much overall grip as such + unsafe at higher speeds?
Would staying with the same sized wheels 20x8.5, I think (R-Line) and run a higher 45 or 55 wall tyre be more beneficial, also without altering the speedo much? Would in turn give me greater comfort and clearance but lower higher grip and more tyre flex into corners?2021 Kamiq LE 110 , Moon White, BV cameras F & B

You're better off getting a good set of second-hand rims from someone that has upgraded.
These type of copy rims are generally not to the same quality as the OEM spec and may not have the same load rating (or may not even have been tested).
Pretty much you get what you pay for a lot of the time.
I would either purchase genuine OEM used wheels (Audi do some nice wheels that will fit the Tiguan) or a decent brand of aftermarket wheel. Avoid the discount wheel/tyre shops as likely you'll be buying an inferior product that will make your car look cheaper and be harder to sell down the track.

Also be careful with Audi "look" wheels as there's lots of fake copies of these floating around. Just check the backs have got the Audi stamps and part# in the casting and you should be pretty right.Last edited by tigger73; 31-05-2019, 08:14 AM.

Appreciate that tigger73. I quite like the Q5 & Q7 2018 S Line wheels but still keep to the 20" diam. Also going bigger then 20" to 21+ would ultimately cost more and replacing these tyres would be a pocket nightmarenot to mention that this will/may make the suspension more harder then the already hardish feel. Could be wrong though....
This may remain untouched until end of year - Save up and retain a sleeper look once my upgrades get installed.2018 Tiguan Allspace R-Line - Platinum Grey Metallic

Another note on my soon to come build.I want to go the Hybrid avenue rather then just a standard IS38 turbo.
What branded turbos or style do you recommend for either the IS20 or IS38 Hybrids? I've been advised the TTE485 or TTE475 and also the DBV2 as a good matches. Price of 5.5K+ for these turbos, is that about right?
I am going to use a bigger Forge intercooler and upgraded fuel pump as well to avoid any possible heat or lack of fuel issues.
I wanting to place an order with either tuner probably by end of this week as ordering a turbo in can take some time.2018 Tiguan Allspace R-Line - Platinum Grey Metallic
