  • Faulty discover pro 2 9.2”

My wonderful journey with vw continues. Sigh.

Yesterday morning the unit decided to develop 2 faulty lines of dead pixels, through the mid-section if the display.

Called the dealer as I was driving to work, promised a call back. Never happened, so called them again at 4:45 to book in.

I know that they’re going to have it a whole day, so nothing, send me home again. Then I’ll have to rebook in to they ‘can send data to vw’ (also will take the whole day) then go back a third time to get it swapped out. Likely discover they’ve scratched some trim pieces, or damaged a clip or 3, then go back again to have that looked at, etc, etc.

Along with the 4 or 5 hire car issues I’ve had(each had issues of their own), I’m never coming back to this brand. There is too much ‘bad’ offsetting the nice potential. such a pity. Bring on 2021.

If this car was priced the same as the Koreans or mid-level Japanese, I’d think it’s a fair compromise (perceived quality and solidarity vs several ****ty flaws) vs the opposition being a bit cheap feeling, but more consistent.

    Oh well, live and learn.

I’d tend to agree on the reliability front. Have had my Tiguan since November 2018, has been back to the dealer twice for days at a time (once on a tow truck). That and the incessant rattling just has me waiting for the next technical issue to arise. And ultimately you’re rewarded with relatively more expensive servicing costs. On the other hand my 6 years with a Subaru XV was problem free until the very end.

Not sure I’ll be back either!

seems this has been seen in a few cars across the VW range. Most likely a bad batch of units

Thanks for the links. Had a quick squiz through. Seems it will be a long wait for a new unit to be fitted. Oh well.

Positive update. One visit and done. I think the first time for me!

Unsure if they took a screen from one of their existing cars, had pre-ordered after I booked in, or had spares onsite, but car was ready to go at 3:30pm(8am drop off)

So now, not all of my stories are 100% negative! I still had to be there, due to a negative reason
