    Just a suggestion!
That was the reason given away back in 2011 when I bought my Passat and as i have already said in this thread is probably the reason in the Allspace which is more likely to have kids around it.

Why some shorties do and others dont is only something a stealer could answer. Maybe but then one told me I could use the paddles when in D mode. Anyone confirm that?????
If some can do it there must be a way of coding it in.

From my vehicle specific information it has this

162 PE1 Vw Group Easy open package without SAFELOCK

It also has a reference to the easy open and close function which is the wave your willie under the bumper trick

Yep but SOME dont work in all functions and the question is why and how to fix it.

I seriously wouldn’t be surprised if they are all meant to, but vw don’t know why. I’ve already had 1st hand experience with vw senior international engineering teams. It wasn’t confidence inspiring.

Perhaps there are different hardware items used- semi-randomly, or without proper communication between supplier, designer, r&d, manufacturing and then despatch, that cause these strange issues that vw have for many of their cars- within a given model and series. Vw then aren’t sure how to resolve and it takes several visits to a dealer for them to resolve on an ad-how database.

            Beta-testing in a way.

Ok answer is in the manual... you have to have the ignition on for the boot to close using the interior button. Case (or boot) closed!

Dead right and if you want it to stop in a particular place. EG if you have a long load in it you just let the button go and it stops. However if you pull it again it tries to continue to go DOWN not up as it would using the buttons at the rear

Yes you can, but as soon as you press either of the paddles, it automagically turns to “M” mode

It reverts back to D mode after about 5 seconds of consistent throttle use- and no more paddle use. Or hold the + paddle for 2 seconds to achieve the same result.

I discovered this the other day! So in my Wolfsburg I can open the boot from inside without the ignition on, but I can't close it until I turn the ignition on, hence the confusion.

                      Definitely boot closed!

It's a very strange thing you would have though if it was an issue with power then you wouldn't be able to open it with the ignition off. It must be that the sensors to determine if the boot is "stuck" or hit something requires power to be on.

Anyway put it down to a quirk of VW but it does explain why some people had got it to work while others hadn't.

I must admit I have only used it with the car running leaving the Bunnings drive in trade section where they inspect what you bought.

Dealer said allspace cannot close the boot door by a key or inside a car.

Correct and its done for safety reasons on the presumption that the 7 seater may/will have kids in it and so you cant close it without being there to check is safe
