I upgraded my brakes to golf r from the stock setup looks great as i got the calipers painted candy apple gold before geting them installed used ate ceramic pads
In normal driving no change much better when driven hard i find the ate pads preformed well on the reafton spur the gti in front of me after the run had smoke pouring off his brakes and i could briefly touch my calipers without getting a burn no fade at all
I was pushing him hard the whole way
Not a cheap option but worth it

I've been talking to Elig Australia and they advised they've revised the brake pad offering for the new stock they've got in.
The Sports range has now a different compound which behaves similarly to Project Mu HC800 (which you guys know are a fantastic pad, low rotor wear and very good co-efficient ).
The new Elig Sports (SB539) is now rated from 0 to 700 degrees Celsius, which makes it perfect street use with some track work, which i doubt many of us will do.
I will be getting a set to replace the current OEM brake pads in the next couple of months (most likely after my 1st service).
How hard would it be to grade to R brakes?
Can be done?
I'm actually not sure there's going to be a heap of difference to be honest unless you plan on tracking your car and/or doing a lot of heavy, repeated braking. The main difference appears to be in the rears. I still need to determine what the difference is in the caliper.
Can someone please confirm that the pads and rotors for the Mk7 GTi (standard) and Tiguan Wolfsburg are NOT interchangeable?

AFAIK the Wolfsburg is 340mm and the GTI power pack is 340mm and they interchange. VW/Audi?Skoda/SEAT are like mechano sets and many parts are interchangeable.

Definitely different diameter so rotors can’t be swapped. The actual pads I suspect are going to be different shape as the brake calipers are different but you would have to check the part numbers for each to confirm 100%.

This catalogue gives dimensions and an outline of the pad shape and rotor.
340mm rotor has a pad area around 12000mm sq (x4).
312mm rotor has a pad area around 10250mm sq (x4).
Call it 20% more surface area?

A good Brake supplier like Brakes direct usually has access to what was fitted at various build dates.
If you are DIYing the job then pull a wheel and a slide pin and that usually gives enough access to compare the pad with the profile in the catalogue.
