Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Google Maps via Iphone IOS 12

Just in case you guys didnt know, since IOS 12, you can now use Google Maps on your Tiguan via Apple Carplay.

The only downside is, it seem to crash a bit - well, at least mine does.

Anyone else's phone/Carplay crash during Google Maps?

I’m using it on Discover Media since Google made it available and haven’t experienced a single crash.

Discover pro 2 9.2 and all fine for me. Waze crashes sometimes though.

Discover media in the current 7.5 golf I’m in is a bit more glitchy, but still no crashes.

I have been using iOS 12 since betas days and both waze and google maps. If you experience crashes, they are due to your phone so struggling.

A simple reboot of the phone will fix the issue.

I’m on an XS at current software and current app updates. I restart my phone every couple of days and force quit apps several times each day. I’m quite confident that my device is handling things as well as it can

Apple is just beginning to lose the ascendency it has had over Android, in relation to trouble-free usage, lately. My watch4 is seriously disappointing me, compared to my watch3(wife has now)
