Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ‘Recent’ interior light recall?

My allspace is having some warranty work done, and they’ve mentioned they’re also doing a recent interior light recall.

I can’t find mention of one, from googling, besides disabling the sunroof lights(already done on my car) which isnt recent.

Are they re-enabling the lights? I hope so.

I haven't heard that there's a fix for the ambient lighting. I thought this was just getting disabled in the Allspace as a preventative measure until there's a permanent fix.

There is a fix being applied to UK cars, whether it is a permanent thing is unknown.

          The recall started in Belgium.

I had my screen replaced a few weeks ago (it had the vertical lines issue) and they did the recall fix at the same time. I can't tell any difference, and the sunroof lights still go on at night.

I got my car back. No sunroof lights still. In fact, I can’t even see them in the channels...

Can others actually see the led strips?

I also don’t have them as a selectable item in the screen where you play with the ambient lighting(doors and foot wells)

That attachment won’t show/load for me. Can you please explain what it said.

i reckon I can see the leds strips in my sunroof, but like you, no option in the lighting menu for them

so my car isn't actually deactivated, according to my dealer. never has been according to what they see on their internal database(s)

so it's going back to be sussed out and then likely back again to have whatever they decide, applied. i'm assuming itll be a software update to re-enable the feature.

this updated recall is the same as in europe. a fused patch lead is installed onto the circuit, as an extra layer of protection.

                      ozrod,

can you see if there is an option in your menu to adjust the brightness of the sunroof lights, on top of the adjustments for footwell and another for door leds, please.

Hi Dubber, yes it's adjustable. In the menu screen the icon is on the rear view mirror for some reason, but clicking on it shows "Roof" and the slider adjusts the light intensity.

I was in the service few days ago and they told me to book my car in for the light repair. They said they will lower the roof lining and apply a fix so I can have my light back. They also said it will take few days so it seems it is not a simple job.

Funny thing is, I didn't know I had a light there. . I thought the ambient light in the roof comes only in the Highline version and above.

Anyway, I will be booking my car in soon so I can have that fancy ambient roof light, I've been not missing.

That seems like a really long time for something I'd think would be a few hours at most
